Nothing you can do while screening a known, employed, and active pilot can prevent he/she from gaining control of an aircraft. It is the most basic fundamental function of their job.

The same can not be said for any other employee group.

I actually disagree with that decision. I want them looking at the real threats, far more dangerous than a 2.3 inch folding non locking non moulded grip keychain knife which, by the way, is significantly less dangerous than a set of 8 inch knitting needles, 4 inch sizzors or a fountain pen, all of which are already allowed and present in mass quantities. As for the 2.3 inch blades, they are in our planes and airspace in the hands of passengers already when peopel fly here and make connections because those things are legal in most of the rest of the world anyway.

Don't try to be rational here gloppy. It won't resonate with the emotional response of the other side.

Close... It's more like, what you want to happen is, pat down the nurses before going to the hospital but let the surgeons go without a pat down because you think that surgeons are perfect and don't commit crime, even though the surgeon and nurse went through the SAME stringent background checks.

I'd be more worried about the credentials of the people DOING the actual searches and validation of the KCM process, ie: The TSA

There is a much greater barrier to entry to becoming a professional airline pilot than that of a flight attendant and it goes well beyond that of a background check.

I'm amazed that you cannot realize why there is a difference here between the two employee groups. The reason for screening is to prevent the hijacking of an aircraft. Pilots are already in control of the aircraft. Therefore screening them prevents nothing. This is true for no other employee group, including flight attendants.

You do have one good point though, I trust FAs a lot more than I trust TSA.

Now, how's that coffee coming?
Tell that to the CA and FO of FedEx 705. A speargun, a couple hammers, etc.

I'm sick and tired of these FA's acting as if they're entitled to everything that the pilots have worked hard to earn. This should be the final straw!!! When is someone going to wake up and see the problem here? A person without any felony convictions in the past 10 years can go from drug dealer to FA in under 4 weeks. Why are they allowed to bypass airport security?? I've flown with plenty, although it is becoming less and less, well mannered/considerate/helpful FAs who don't care either way about KCM. It seems that KCM is only important to all of the power happy/something to prove FAs who should have never entered into the business. Last question, what exactly was wrong with the title steward or stewardess? It was much more fitting than flight attendant and had a better ring to it when making announcements.
In answer to your last question -Gender neutrality .

Ok shy, I will type really slow so you can keep up...

NOTHING WILL STOP A PILOT BENT ON DISTRUCTION. You want a FA to be able to excuse one of the two pilots for a break, pull a kcm smuggled weapon, and take over?(after 4 whole weeks on the job). You sir, are an India Delta ten Tango.

Enjoy VX, we don't need you here.
