Wave goodbye to KCM...

Gun-toting flight attendant nabbed at Fiumicino airport - GazzettaDelSud

Definitely not what you want to read about.

80ktsClamp 06-24-2013 01:00 PM

Well, we were all speculating on how long it would take an FA to blow it.... Has it even been 8 months yet?

lolwut 06-24-2013 01:02 PM

Hopefully this will be what it takes to make KCM be a pilot only program, like it should be.

johnso29 06-24-2013 01:32 PM

I don't see the KCM program shutting down for this. You simply fire the FA and prosecute them in court. People don't want to follow the rules? Then punish them.

I don't see how it has to be an FA that blows the whole KCM deal for us considering in recent months a pilot shoots his gf, commandeers and destroys an airplane before killing himself. There will always be bad apples in the group, including pilots.

That was a regional pilot. They are a lesser species.

No no no. Not allowed in this country anymore. We must punish the collective by dumbing it down to the lowest common denominator.

sandlapper223 06-24-2013 02:10 PM

The article does not mention that she used KCM to enter through security in the U.S. I suppose she could have placed the pistol in her checked luggage on the way to Italy? (Just trying to salvage the KCM for the rest).

Also, the article states, "Italian border police found a disassembled 40 caliber SIG SAUER revolver...." That's nice too. SIG has never made a revolver as far as I know.

I was thinking the same thing. That weapon in the picture looks like it should be in a museum. Nice to see the press in other countries puts out about the same effort as our own to get the facts straight.

It looks like they used a picture of a 1917 WWI Italian Glisenti Revolver (you can see the date stamp). Probably googled "pistola" and took the first image that popped up.... "Meh, it's a gun - good enough".

That was the second usairways flight attendant to do this, the other one got caught at a non kcm US airport.

Must be something in USAir's crew meals or water or something. Didn't a captain from USAir, aka Buffalo Bill, put a new air vent in cockpit of his Airbus a couple of years back while descending into, was it Charlotte?

Now you have a weapon that Italian Customs comes across, which was disassembled, then you a captain, with a meager amount of intelligence, with a loaded weapon ready to fire, that actually fires his weapon in the cockpit. Now which one of the two is most deserving of the Charles Darwin award?

Interesting though... 5 spent shells... Who was capped?

Well, if this is the second time that some FA has pulled this BS, I say they need to be removed from the program immediately!!! Why in the hell where they allowed into KCM to begin with? There is absolutely no reason why they should be allowed to bypass security from this point forward. I'm sick and tired of these FA's acting as if they're entitled to everything that the pilots have worked hard to earn. This should be the final straw!!! When is someone going to wake up and see the problem here? A person without any felony convictions in the past 10 years can go from drug dealer to FA in under 4 weeks. Why are they allowed to bypass airport security?? I've flown with plenty, although it is becoming less and less, well mannered/considerate/helpful FAs who don't care either way about KCM. It seems that KCM is only important to all of the power happy/something to prove FAs who should have never entered into the business. Last question, what exactly was wrong with the title steward or stewardess? It was much more fitting than flight attendant and had a better ring to it when making announcements.:D:cool:

Flight attendant's gun goes off at airport security in Philadelphia - NBC News.com

http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2...gun-bond-court

This is a common occurrence. Many people have concealed handguns and forget they have them and show up at an airport, f/a's included.

I had that USAir Captain as a JSer five years ago. He was one of the most professional pilots I'd ever met and was surprised to find out he was involved in that incident. I think he got his job back after many months of investigation as it was found to be an accident and not his being careless. I'm sure someone on here has the definitive answer on this and hope they can chime in....

Yeah it was the the locking holster that the boys put out for a while. And it wasn't the only accidental discharged that was caused by it. We told them it was going to happen and in typical government fashion it was ignored.

They were allowed in because Delta management was facing a union vote by the flight attendants when the pilots got KCM. ALPA got KCM for the pilots and Delta wanted desperately to prove to the FAs that a union was not required to gain the same benefits/privileges.

Richard Anderson pushed hard for FAs to be included in KCM.

rickair7777 06-24-2013 05:50 PM

OK folks, lets please steer clear of SSI (security) details and procedures.

Thanks!

If you can't remember or forget about a pistol/sidearm being on your person, then you shouldn't have one at all. People forgetting about a firearm in their possession is a **** poor excuse for this type of nonsense.:mad:, f/a's included.

Can someone explain to me how it is possible for a FA employed by a major airline to receive three dui's serve jail time and still keep their job?

I hate to see non dues paying non union pilots going through KCM. That's a program that those of us who paid dues over the last 10 years made happen.
