AA doing s-turns on final
#11
I've never been told "don't do S turns" - but it probably depends on the altitude. With the justifiably intense focus these days on stabilized approaches, I can easily see someone objecting to any sort of deviation whatsoever below 1000' AFL.

Some airlines have bank angle and alignment requirements. No banks greater than 15° below 1000' must be within 30° of runway centerline.

You know, 'cause god forbid you let the pilots do any actual FLYING of the airplanes. Can't have that. Just sit nicely and watch the computers do it.

Agreed. If you're doing S turns at 500 feet you're going around. BTW, thanks SEA tower last week for giving us a sidestep at 1200' and then sending us around at midnight....c'mon.

We haven't had any specific guidance, like "No s-turns below 1,500'" or anything similar.
