Recall of DAL MEC Officers

There are always multiple people politicking for the positions as we speak. All LEC reps in favor of the recall have their favorites in mind of who they want as replacements. If the recall vote happens, new officers will be elected that same day.

Game of Thrones has nothing on MEC politics. If these guys carried knives, swords and crossbows it would make the Red Wedding pale

Awesome! Timbo, Purple and/or I could have a golf grudge match to see who gets to be chairman. Johnso29 could wave the pom poms.

P.S. And to think you were bashing on Johnso for not knowing the difference between than & then?

What I got from my Rep is that this stems from the MEC Chairman letting go several full time volunteers from the previous administration who were offered positions in the spirit of compromise and conciliation who have not been supportive of his leadership. Those that did not want to see a change at the last MEC Chairman election are behind the recall effort.

Per MEC Alert 13-14 all 4 Officers are up for recall in a special meeting next Thursday.

I find it troubling the Web Boards were shut down last week as this was unfolding with the excuse it would take several weeks to upgrade the software. My Rep said they were told it would be a simultaneous switch at the last meeting. In the rest of the IT world software is migrated in a matter of hours not weeks.

Just got a quick update from a very tired sounding 66 rep and he didn't have quite the political spin that you have. All of the MEC Admin could possibly be recalled but that the meeting had to be called this way under policy so that the reps could run the meeting vs the MEC chairman and that the meeting was called for by all but 2 of the sitting reps. It doesn't mean any of them will be recalled but there is some sort of issue somewhere and that the firing of 4 pilots who apparently do a lot of the daily work suddenly and without replacements was a bit of a surprise to most of the MEC.
The strategic planning chairman was brand new this year and the old chairman was removed. The international affairs (scope or JV stuff?) chairman was new to the title this year but had volunteered before. The third committee chair had only been in his position for 2 or 3 months but had also done previous work. All 3 were appointed by King and approved by the MEC. The 4th and final positions was an executive administrator that was previously working for the former chairman and stayed through. All 4 of these people were fired in one day and without much explanation as to their failure to do their work according my rep. He said that various meetings with the company were cancelled because of this.
He also said King was the one who had the web board shut down and it's the new communications committee that is struggling to get the new software up and running. If you count "buzz" as going first of year this is the 4th chairman for communications this year? Hard job? Maybe this is posturing for upcoming negotiations? Maybe he has other "scourge" problems?

Considering the outcome of this recall could have an immediate and lasting impact on the pay, benefits, and working conditions of Delta pilots, I certainly consider it worthy of it's own thread.
Which 66 Rep - Capt, FO, or S/T? Did he support the recall or not? I somehow kind of doubt these 4 were released without cause and no one knew there were any issues. I heard one of the individuals had openly said at the last MEC meeting either he was going or the Chairman was. Hmmmmm. Maybe your info is just the other sides spin? Sounds like the company might be putting their thumb on the scales to keep certain people around. Why would they cancel meetings if the Negotiating Committee (intact) is the one that at elected status Rep direction actually does the negotiating? Or is it an unelected appointee advisor to the NC? More things that make you go Hmmmm.
The MEC has reaffirmed on several occasions they want the MEC Chairman to have exactly this authority to hire and fire positions as opposed to being voted in/out by the Reps like fNWA where this kind of event could not have happened but by majority Rep direction.
I guess they want the MEC Chairman to have the authority to hire and fire only certain people......
