I suppose no one here is friends with him.
The earnings call didn't provide much information we weren't already told. Insurance wasn't changing significantly because it was already gutted last year. Net zero growth in aircraft as deliveries are just being shifted. The 190 capped at lower that 75...60. Jetblue is not concerned with attracting pilots but is concerned about retention. 3A is still in the damages phase. No pay raise this year as the discussions with the pilot group are continuing(news to us). The 2014 budget is finalized. Lease back terms are favorable for airlines so no guidance on whether aircraft will be returned. 321 will pay the same as the 320.
Oh yeah and..."We are committed to paying pilot peer wages, and we are currently lagging that"

It's also important to listen to the calls, read the 10K's and dig a little deeper. Press releases misrepresent the facts.

I'll clarify my rant.
Today the company announced record earnings. That's a fantastic thing. If we were at IBM or Microsoft we'd be having a pizza party. (Pun intended) What is even more to celebrate, is that the company is restructuring its aircraft planning for future growth. This equates to more pilot hiring. My point is that we have a large group of people who are looking at this in a pessimistic way. They see the company rolling in dough, and ask where's mine? We're getting it in jobs and there will be a pay raise in 2014. People that are crying about raises and leaving are looking at a move in known territory. The known value of Legacy drama and the uncertainty of being #13,001 on a seniority list. Yeah, there are new contracts that will pay those who are senior and in position to upgrade. But the headaches associated with past mergers of seniority lists and company's are not worth a move.
My point is to all the in house naysayers, sarcastically, is that the door is open to those who wish to leave a good thing. I hope no one leaves. I love going to work knowing there's a 90% chance I'll be flying with a new buddy. To the 10% of those are still nice enough. I had a friend quit at UsAir after 6 months because he couldn't do anything right for the Captain. He was berated for not ripping the paper off the printer correctly and with that bid adieu to the Legacy. He was a 2013 hire. If you do need to leave do so knowing that you too many not know how to rip the paper off the printer correctly. Have fun with that for the next 20 years. And by the way, so sad too bad when during the down turn the Legacy furloughs even 5% of the list. (That's 1/2 of my last posts math equation)

This guy left because of company morale. Not because he's out to make friends. I'm not out to make friends at JetBlue, but I do because of the people who I get to work with. Fill another cup of juice for me! Fill it up again!!!

Well, if you haven't heard it was a gang-busters quarter for the company and the industry. With today's announcement of the new fleet planning and integration, NOW, is the perfect time for all the haters to join the ranks of the Legacy's. (Please see yahoo finance under ticker symbol JBLU for details) Enjoy sharing in the misery of seniority integration, base displacement during integration and of course starting at the bottom of a 13,000 list. Quick math -[10% of the seniority list at Delta = 1,300 pilots] JetBlue, you ask? 280 pilots. We'll add that next year with terrestrial growth. Good luck to you and your shiny big jets.

Blow out quarter, that's great. I'm sure JBLU was the only airline stock to go up today. With such great numbers, I'm sure it went up 10% or more.
Oops, it was the only airline stock to go down today. It's not like Wall Street folks know anything about numbers anyway.
Haven't listened to the audio call, but I'm sure Wall Street will appreciate that JetBlue will no longer offer Part-Time employees medical benefits.
I'm sure Dave mentioned that proud fact???
Have another slice P-3.

Bubba, I'm not gonna bother with most of your post here. You are clearly a proud company cheerleader, and that's fine, everyone is to a certain degree. I just have 2 questions:
1.) Where are you getting this 13,000 pilot number for Delta from? You're adding about 1300 guys to our list. Still a big list, to be sure, but one of my pet peeves is when folks start distorting facts to bolster their argument.
2.) Are you really.......I'm trying to think of the right word......so naive that you believe that a now mature or at least not rapidly growing JetBlue is immune from furloughs in the event of a down-turn. If so, you're setting yourself up for some major disappointment.

What merger? If AA/US goes through and it's very likely it will, then that will be it for legacy mergers. The government is already clamping down on this AA merger and after it's approved then that is it. The next merger cycle will have to amongst the LCC level as they need to consolidate and increase in size to better compete with the 3 big legacies. Between Virgin America, JetBlue, Allegiant, Frontier, and Spirit, you might see JetBlue + Virgin merge and Spirit + Frontier merge.
