SWA Interview w/o type?

For those of you who got an interview without the type, what kind of time did you have?

Thanks!

328dude 12-10-2006 09:31 PM

In order to answer your question, I need to ask you something. Is that flyOSU for Ohio State University or Oklahoma State University?

Choose wisely.:p

FLYING HIGH 12-10-2006 11:11 PM

328dude I don't think thats nice from your part. If you want to give an advice or answer a question for someone in this forum; It should come from the bottom of your heart. I don't think where the person is coming from should make any difference. It does not matter if the person is coming from the local FBO or from a name university everyone should be treated with the same respect.

You left out Oregon State University, which also has an excellent flying club by the way( I should know, I am a member:) ). Oh, and btw, Oregon State also beat USC this year, so they arent too bad in football either.

Uh, I think you missed the point. He's not being serious - just yanking a few chains.

You must've missed the ":p" in his post.

Lighten up, Francis.

FXDX 12-11-2006 06:03 AM

Shadow flight you need to post more often.

That pic is SWEET.

flyosu 12-11-2006 07:26 AM

I updated my avatar so that it's clear the flyosu is for The Ohio State University.

Here is another picture if you still aren't sure which OSU I meant...

GO BUCKS!

Now about my original question...

For those of you who got an interview without the type, what kind of time did you have?

Thanks!

Short Bus Drive 12-11-2006 07:36 AM

Well, even though I live in Michigan...(wife goes to MSU anyway, so we don't hold OSU against you)
I had @8200 total, with @1400 PIC turbine, and some previous Checkairman experience. Still didn't get it though.
Maybe 'cause I live in Michigan.;)

VegasBoy 12-11-2006 08:57 AM

No 73-type
7000-ish total
4570 PIC, 3000-ish Jet PIC
waiting for decision board.

How come everyone else got the hint of sarcasm on my part but you?

Thanks for the clarification on your part there FlyOSU. Also, thanks for bringing the Heisman up.

Disclaimer: The above comment was a joke and hold no hard feelings or wish to start a flame war with the above posters. Is that better Flying High?

It wasn't like the sarcasm was subtle. Oh well.

shiftwork 12-11-2006 04:18 PM

My buddy, who just got out of the navy in Oct., had about 2000'ish TT and was hired.

FXDX 12-11-2006 06:34 PM

Yeah baby, keep them coming!

rusty737 12-13-2006 09:29 AM

How long would it take for a new hire to bid BWI as his base?

9999 12-13-2006 10:03 AM

328dude,

Sorry for the minor hijack of this thread. Do you know what bases the new hires are currently being assigned to by SWA?

ironbird 12-13-2006 10:17 AM

Hey Fellows, I was talking to a guy from Parc Aviation, which is an agency in Europe and he said he was at a conference where the representative from SOUTHWEST said if people with even close to 1000hrs tt wanted to apply they could and also stand a decent chance of getting hired once they are willing to pay for their type rating. Believe me, when he said that to me he got me because i still don't think they will take you with such low hours. But I don't know anything is possible.

big up

Plan 3 months, probably see it in two.

9999 12-13-2006 06:38 PM

How long would it take a new hire to get Midway?

ironbird 12-14-2006 04:47 AM

hey hotmama, what are you referring to? Is it the minimums or me not believing it, because if it's the minimums then, i am sure you read what my opinion was on that.

big up

SWAcapt 12-14-2006 05:35 AM

I think that the appllicants integrity might be questioned if he were to apply with the minimum 1300 turbine PIC while only logging 1000 total time. Albert Einstein would be proud of him however.:D

From our website:
# Flight Experience:
2,500 hours total or 1,500 hours TURBINE total. Additionally, a minimum of 1,300 hours in Turbine aircraft as the Pilot in command3, as defined below is required. Southwest considers only Pilot time in fixed wing aircraft. This specifically excludes simulator, helicopter, WSO, RIO, FE, NAV, EWO etc. NO other time is counted.3

So Wonwee 12-14-2006 08:54 AM

The on-line app asks if you meet each min. When you answer no to anyone, the application is complete for now. You can not apply.

Woxof 12-20-2006 03:17 PM

About those questions on the first age of the application...

Rebecca Krone (sp) said it is okay to answer "yes" to the questions on page one so one can get to the application even if the real answer is no. However, when answeing those question inside the application (like 1300 PIC), you must put the real answer (ex:1250 PIC).

Call SWA PD and verify if you like.

Sorry for the late reply 9999. I'm not real sure to your above question. I just finished up training and getting shipped to MDW for my hardline month. The febuary awards are not out yet, and I'm not sure where everyone is going to be based. However, with 60 plus newhires below me now, I'm hoping to stay out of OAK. Time will tell. With 4 classes scheduled in January, I don't think I will be there long if at all. It will be interesting to see how LAS shakes out whether it goes junior or senior. I'm thinking it will go senior on the captains side, but junior for the FO's untill it get's built up a bit.

C17MooseDriver 12-21-2006 06:19 AM

Does anyone have the number for SWA PD?

jetpilot4u 12-21-2006 12:01 PM

Anyone receive any word on February/March training dates?

Thank you for the information. Did you have your type before your interview with Southwest? If so, did you go to Higher Power? Thanks
