Does anyone have updated info on how many pilots JB plans to hire in 2014? Last I read it was something like 250-400, depending on the thread...and I also read if you make it to the interview, historically around 80ish percent of folks get the offer- is this true? Given how damn hard it is to get an interview, I imagine it is probably a realistic number- seems like they are bringing in people they pretty much already want to hire...thoughts

What are your qualifications for you recent interviewees?

I think all airlines bring in those they want to hire. Why wouldn't they? Even with all the effort they put into pre-screening typical hiring rates are in the 50% range on average. They've got to see people face to face and even then they've got to apply some discriminators. To attempt to figure out a "magic formula" is impossible as every airline has it's own preferences and those preferences change as each new hiring class progresses. They all constantly adjust their target based on past successes and failures. |

Probably a good idea would to be ask the simple question of how many interviewed/were moved into Phase II in each individual JB hiring thread. It'll give a real number to work from though it's "purely historical and no indication of future performance". (inserted disclaimer)

They indeed try to bring people to the interview who meet their quals and the company has every intention of hiring them. The interview is relaxed and primarily to get to understand the personality of the candidate and see if they would be a good fit in that regard. 400 is looking to be a conservative target for 2014 newhires |
My observations on interview day...most of the few military I met I also saw at the JB veteran event in Nov. Many regional pilots--some very young below 25 and others older. Also had a few cargo pilots from varied commercial backgrounds. Overall, good mix of folks and very relaxed environment. Even got to shake hands with the senior leadership for one Q and A session. When I attended the vet event, I avoided the crowded group of pilots trying to hand their resumes to the 3 or 4 senior talent/chief pilots and had small talk with all the HR/admin personnel on the sidelines. Three of us that did this got the call for Dec, Jan and Feb interviews. Just a few data points.
