Default flica tax savings

Has anyone tried the flica tax savings report? Is it worth the $50 and if so how much have you saved?
Also is it worth it regardless of your pay (regional/major pilot)

It has nothing to do with if you are at a major or regional. The federal government sets what they believe should be the daily per diem in cities. For example, I think NY is around $80/day. Were you paid $80 for your last overnight in LGA? It adds up over the year. I think mine was around $1,000 for 2012, and I was out for a few months on medical. I'm still waiting for my 2013. So that's quite a bit to put against your taxes.

You can also write off the $50 you spent on the report.

perdiemcalc.com is only $24.95 and it does the same thing and it will save you the same amount of money. You just have to input your overnights instead of it getting auto populated by Flica... It took me 20 minutes to do last year's. My regional paid me around $5k in PD when I was supposed to get well over $8k, so the difference was tax deductible.

You have to itemize to take advantage of the tax savings.

I used perdiemcalc this year, it's great and I would highly recommend it.

I no longer use flica as a friend referred me to this firm from Colorado - Watson Cpa Group
Free Per Diem Calculator - Pilot Per Diem - Flight Attendant Per Diem - Airline Per Diem

I still do my taxes on turbo tax, but it only takes about 15 minutes to enter all my overnights into this calculator and it's free whether you use them for taxes or not. I'd also note that for the past 3 years I get informative emails from them leading up to tax time talking about changes in tax law, etc.
