US Airways Commuter Clause
 
"Due to weather conditions, the CLT operation has been shut down for the rest of the day. Pilots who were unable to commute due to these conditions earlier today may have been denoted with a Stuck Commuting (SCM) in their CATCREW line. I have spoken with CLT Chief Pilot BG and he agreed that any CLT pilot with an SCM in their line for today WILL NOT BE DISCIPLINED for that remark due to the conditions. Reserve pilots who receive an SCM today WILL NOT BE DOCKED PAY. Any CLT reserve pilot who was taken off personal due to being unable to get to work will be changed to an SCM code so that pay is not docked. CLT operations will reopen tomorrow morning. CLT pilots who drive to work should be very careful. Allow plenty of drive time. If you find that conditions are unsafe for you to drive to work, inform crew scheduling and return home. Be careful out there."

I thought Airways adopted AAs commuter policy at the POR.
Yet here USAPA is talking discipline issues for pilots commuting into a weather closed airport.
What's going on here?

We are under the APA/AA Commuter policy. Do you have any idea what it says? Pilots are docked pay under the APA Commuter policy. The update is there to make pilots understand that they will not be disciplined for an SCM code. In the past, it was used for discipline with the chief pilot's office. Some reserve pilots were taken off personal because they could not get to work today. USAPA Scheduling Representatives had Crew Scheduling change those from Personal (which would dock pay) to SCM which will not dock pay. Hope that helps explain it for you.

Did some phone calling and was told that the use of the AA commuter clause can best be described as "no guarantees" because some management feels there is some discipline still yet to be had for responsible commuters.
May have been turned on because of POR but it's effectiveness is yet to be tested.

That was me today. Spent a couple hours at the airport, till everything canceled. Couldn't make it for my early report tomorrow. Called scheduling, and they said they had to take me off my entire trip, which seems to be in contradiction to the commuter policy which is under the merger transition agreement. It seems to say that a pilot could join the trip downline, but they wouldn't let me just miss the first turn of the trip, then fly the rest.

I'm glad for all the reserve pilots who will not be docked pay today. But what about a block holder who braved the treacherous roads, showed up on time, checked in on CATCREW, went to the plane and waited with half a crew for two hours before they cancelled our whole day? Now I'm off my whole trip also and am 10 hours short for the month. I'd make more money on reserve, while flying a whole lot less. I hope we get a a JCBA soon!

Nope, pre mou this company had worse worksrules than mesa.
