CONUS only aircraft @ UA, AA, Delta
I've flown trans-oceanic and LONG duration ops in the military, and decided if I am fortunate enough to get hired by a legacy in the next 1 to 2 years I would prefer to fly CONUS hops (after I have seniority to hold a certain type). I know the larger aircraft = more money according to the pay scales, but it's not my cup of tea.
Which aircraft (if any) at the legacies only fly CONUS routes? Thanks |
None at UAL, 73 and Bus do Caribbean, Central and SA

Sounds good Buzzpat.
Anybody have an approximate date when Delta is retiring the 717s? |

At AA, your bid preference is 4-part, base/position/aircraft/domestic or international (e.g. LAX/FO/737/D). So, here you'd eventually have a choice of S80 (retiring ~ 2018), A320, 737, and 767.
You wouldn't want to bid 777, 787, or any international preferences with the other airframes listed above. |

Thanks for the quick responses. Good info I didn't know - AA bidding, 717s in the fleet long term at delta.

Do you not want to leave the lower 48? Or just not do 8+ hour legs? There is plenty of painful flying domestically. I'll take carribean day turns all month long over a 4 day trip of transcons. It's not really int'l flying with the pain you're used to.

If you're truly interested in only flying CONUS (like me- I can't wait to leave long haul behind) have you considered the LCC's like jetBlue, Spirit, Frontier, VA?
Spirit's pay scale, for instance, is pretty comparable to narrow body pay rates at the legacies (UAL and AAL, anyways), with great QOL to boot. And I've got plenty of military friends at jetBlue who love it there... Granted, you might end up doing some Carribean and shallow South American turns, but that's not really international. It's like flying into Miami! |
