RAH No Vote
RAH pilots just voted down the TA that would have given them the shiny new E175 flying for AA that Eagle turned down last month..Congrats to the RAH guys for not undercutting the Eagle pilots.
Here's a thought..how about mainline buying E175's for mainline pilots to fly mainline passengers like how it used to be done on 73's, 72's and DC9's?

Flying fuel inefficient 72's maybe a joke, but the sentiment was spot on. The days of being able to feed your hubs by paying regional guys peanuts is coming to an end. Time to have that flying brought back to mainline.

Great news if true. Hopefully this helps close the cycle of predatory bargaining inherent to the industry and put on steroids ever since the SkyWest "shot heard round the world Deal Me an Ace" nonsense followed by the RAH contractual sacrifice of their FO's flying up to 100 seaters for 20-something an hour because they would get so much flying no one would be an FO for very long.
Love love love seeing the regional airline management squirm and throw tantrums while pilot groups appear somewhat unified in being sick of the bullying.

Wrote about this in my Flying magazine column a few months back. They put it online if you're interested.

The "pilot shortage" - ie the disappearance of qualified pilots willing to work for peanuts - was very well timed, and regional pilots have been taking very close notice. Personally I think the majors will try to use flow agreements & pref interviews to staff their regionals...but we'll see if that's sufficient. They should just be glad they were able to staff their feed so cheap for 20 years and resign themselves to having mainline pilots fly it, IMHO.
