Virgin Next To Unionize?
Virgin has become the last major airline to not unionize, now that jetBlue pilots have spoken.
Are they next? I would think they would want to bring their pay up to par with peers. Virgin America | AirlinePilotCentral.com Thoughts? |

A lot of former Midwest pilots screwed over by Lee Moak specifically and ALPA in general. I won't speak for them, but if they feel like I do about ALPA and Moak its gonna be a tough sell! |

Like meaning the employees/union members run the show... The reality is none of this is true, actions speak louder than words. Take a look at the fiasco at RAH. The Local Union negotiating committee was replaced with non-RAH, IBT National reps during the end game of CBA negotiations. The Local union's own president claimed to not even know the status of negotiations due to the fact that the Local union's reps were replaced. Even worse, the IBT Constitution is not designed to represent airline bargaining units working under the RLA. This is a critical flaw. The IBT Constitution requires that any Last, Best, Final Offer must be offered to the membership for ratification. This severely limits the Local's leverage. I realize this will spiral into a personal bashing, IBT vs other organizations, but no one can dispute the IBT's COMPLETE AND EPIC failure at RAH. I can't imagine one single airline wanting their "services". |

Srsly though, no matter how badly someone thinks they were "screwed by ALPA" the kool aid alternative of blindly trusting airline management instead is pretty stupid. IBT is for the most part a very distant second and in houses seem to potentially work at larger, established airlines but the smaller ones tend to be radically outclassed at the table and one as small as VX would be little more than whatever student council they have at the moment anyway. Hatred for ALPA won't be enough to keep it off property at VX, only endless growth kool aid will be, and even that will run out in a few years. However they stand a good chance to be merged before it comes to a head anyway. Which is right where their execs want them to be. |
