Deny NAI

The amendment to Deny NAI in the Senate will now be the Klobuchar-Coats-Schatz-Blunt Amendment. This adds two Republicans and another Democrat to work across party lines.

The amendment is really simple - it just requires DOT to observe the laws already on the books, and would prohibit DOT from using federal funds to approve any foreign air carrier permit unless it subscribes to U.S. law and the labor provisions contained in Article 17 bis of the U.S.-EU Air Transport Agreement.

Call your Senators, and click on the Call To Action.

Just called both my senators. When I asked if they were familiar with the Schatz amendment, they both immediately responded, "yes the one to deny NAI". Call 202-224-3121 for the switch board and you get an immediate answer. Request to be patched to your states senate office. Each call took less than a minute. Do it folks!

So did I read correctly that this bill was killed in the Senate?

Sad that we have to try and pass a law to enforce existing law. Par for the course these days though.

Anyone else think this career is pretty much screwed in light of this news? Im thinking our only hope is maybe there wont be enough pilots who want to fly there?

No. I don't. However, I do believe that it will constantly be threatened, and we as constituents need to be in contact with our respective reps voicing our concerns. Participate in the Call to Actions. Back the PAC. It's more important than you think. Just take a look at now much NATCA members contribute. They blow ALPA members out of the water, and are a MUCH smaller group.

Yeah... Source? I'm looking all over the place, and can't find one article that says this bill was shot down in the Senate.
