People Express airline returns, but faces long odds, as did rebirths of PanAm, National, Braniff, Midway, Eastern - The Business Journals

Great article. Makes me laugh.

It's not a thing like fee for departure. Those airlines are already flying on established brands. Vision flying as people express is just rich boys throwing good money after bad.
The article is funny to me because it shows the most common result of a start up airline. These airlines that keep fares artificially low. So I laugh, they'll be gone soon.

No. You're comparing apples to oranges. Not even close to similar.

Just like how people are so quick to judge or get a kick out of seeing people fail .

They did provide some new jobs for the local people there, and people on here want to see them fail ? Wow so much hate

I don't see the similarity. Where did I express joy from seeing People Express fail? If anything, I loathe the morons that are giving the People Express employees false hope. If airlines that have been in business for 80+ years are consolidating, then starting a new airline probably isn't a good idea. Skybus failed, Virgin America is floundering, and Spirit and Allegiant cover the "underserved" markets of the USA. So where is the real opportunity for People Express or Eastern? It doesn't exist, yet some clowns who have money then they know what to do with are going to inject false hope into people all for the chance of making more $$$. It's sad and despicable.

You're comparing People Express(a start up airline dependent on marketing, ticket sales, profit) to a FFD regional that makes money off of being paid per block hour. Mesa, GoJet, etc make money from empty seats. People Express will not.

There is plenty of opportunity for PE to exist. Competition is good!

Competition is good, right up to the point where the system can no longer support it. Sure, I can fill a 747 @ $50 a seat, but am I turning a profit? And what kind of drag is that producing on other airlines trying to compete? (By the way, it's a theoretical example.)

As long as it's smart competition, it good.

Only time will tell. History disagrees with you though.
