Don't forget the I-POD, care of Branson, loaded with songs from V/A Records.

But seriously folks... the DOT has not ruled on whether or not to issue the letters of economic authority to operate. Therefore the FAA has not started the certification process yet.

I stand corrected. However, the jury on the DOT is still out on this one.

Wrong. FAA certification has been completed (table-tops in ONE day!).

Is there a chance for pay increases?

A330Checkairman,

I know that there has been a lot of controversy revolving around VA coming online. Obviously, the biggest one has been the pay scale. It is my understanding that pay only increases $5 per/hr per year up to five years. Can you confirm or deny this info. If indeed the cap is not at five years I think that VA could be quite the competition in a few years but as it stands now (just from what I've heard) I would be quite poor on those rates in SF. I would greatly appreciate any info you could share in this area.

Yes sir, that is correct. The PIC pay starts at 95$/hr and increases 5$/hr up to 5 years. It is a starting point. I would imagine that by year 4, they will be discussing the cap. My humble opinion.

The total package however, is pretty decent. Medical (BCBS), Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Supplemental Life, LTD, STD, Loss of License, 14 days Vacation year 1, 12 sick days, just to name a few.

Perdiem is $38/day I heard and they have some working rules that are industry standard.

Very few of the crewmembers are from the bay area, so the arguments about having to live in SFO are unfounded. Just like the rest of the industry, the crews will be non-revving into SFO and staying in crash pads.

Hope this helps. My buddies over there are REAL Happy.
