Jetblue Daily guarantee

Hi there,

I was wondering if a Jetblue pilot could tell me what the minimum daily credit guarantee is for their pilots? Thanks in advance.

We don't have a daily guarantee.

What we do have is average credit per duty period, which is five hours.

THIS IS NOT A DAILY GUARANTEE!!!

You could have a 4-day trip with three duty periods that will pay less than twenty hours. We do have these trips.

You could also have a 2-day trip where you fly eight hours on day 1 and 2 hours on day 2. You get paid 10 hours (2 duty periods). You would not get 13 hours unless you had a minimum credit per day (or duty period).

All true. But just to be clear, there is also a trip rig of 3.5/1, which would also come into play when you don't have a duty period every day on a trip. Still not as good as a daily min credit though.

Just like Spirit has. Total junk. Both need to go on our next(first) contract

All the above is correct but here it is listed out:

You are paid the greater of:

5 hours per DUTY period. (again, a 4 day trip may only have 3 duty periods)
or
1 hour for every 3.5 hours time away from base.(trip rig)
or
1 hour for every 2 hours of duty time (ie 12 hour duty day pays at least 6 hours) (duty rig)

Thanks for all the replys. The info is much appreciated!

This is probably close to industry standard. Industry standard was a lot higher a decade ago, but then companies like Jetblue were started lowering the industry standard. When the legacies went bankrupt, Jetblue was used in court as an example of gow airline pilots should make less money.

What's 1st year like?

What can a new FO realistically make 1st year? (I know payscales are out there but I'm looking for what one can expect). What's the QOL? Any take on what the addition of ALPA will do on the $ side?
Thanks for any info-
Hvy

Plan on min credit , 50.00 $ first year pay. I made much more than this my first year but my timing was great as in line holder a few months out of training. Again living in base picking up extra time can change a lot tho. 2nd year pay can majorly change from person to person , 2nd year pay guys selling back PTO and getting 100 credit a month can make about 10,000 a month, not impossible, but working a lot .

So many things can vary

Thanks Rightside. Much appreciate the info. Any insight as to what eqpt and where new hires are going? How senior is MCO?

Most newhires go to BOS/JFK in either airframe. Probably 1-2 years until you can hold MCO

I would say Mco is a min of 2 years plus many years of reserve after that. Very small base. Fll on the other hand people have been getting right out of training , which is where the growth is going next. I wouldn't count on Mco for a while , hour and 45 min drive for me and I make way more money doing the JFK thing. Commuting sucks of course but I don't wish to be on reserve again. Prob do Fll when more growth happens

Ditto this. I managed to wrangle into MCO back in February through the graces of an early transfer. It was actually awarded on the system bid effective in June. Since I've been here, I haven't moved an inch seniority wise. 5 guys junior to me, and the same number of guys senior, if not a couple more. If I were on the Bus in FLL, I could hold a decent credit line with about 15-16 days off.

That being said, living in base makes it pretty awesome. I got the "Your landing currency expires on the 20th" e-mail the other day. Magically, I start a 3 day tomorrow purely because I was the only reserve available more than 2 days. And there's only one more trip in open time the rest of the month.

MCO Airbus is even more senior. There's one guy junior to me that slid in on the last bid from FLL. I put my bid in for it on this system bid because I figure I'm gonna be on reserve one way or the other. I may flight a bit more, but the extra pay will be nice. Plus, given industry trends, it's probably better to be on the Bus than the 190 if there's a merger down the road.....

What industry trends are you referring to?

I've heard people say this a number of times about the 190 but the way I look at it is seniority is seniority no matter what airframe you're on. If a merger decides to get rid of the 190 fleet any furloughs that may result would still be in seniority order.

Where does it say that in your PEA? It doesn't.....

It's the same thing over and over...the end is near for the 190 guys....it's all over bluepilots. They do this like once a month.
Now it's " the company will sell the 190s unless we agree to a bad CBA"....what a joke.

If you are worried about a merger (kellwolf), upgrade to captain ASAP, I don't think going from one FO seat to another will really help you.
