"Recent aircraft and crew availability and maintenance issues, including an aircraft recently damaged by a vendor's truck, an engine change and a lack of a promised spare aircraft, have made it challenging to operate a full schedule, preventing us from delivering the passenger experience we are striving for," the company said.

And what pray tell would examples of that passenger experience be ?

I am still hoping to see this story where the headline "PeopleExpress" is replaced with "Emirates".

We all look forward to that day. Qatar, Emirates, Ethidad, Turkish, ect.ect... They all want to dominate global aviation and there isn't room for them all. Good riddance to whoever falls 1st.

It's a lot easier to survive if you have a government that supports you with a bottomless bucket of cash, no work rules that you have to adhere to... ya know.. small things like that.. But it's a level playing field. :rolleyes:

No chapter 11 available for the emirate and Emirates. You better hope that Emirates doesn't get sold to Abu Dhabi with an unlimited cash flow from oil. They are buying up percentage chucks of airlines around the world like Air Berlin, Alitalia, and Iberia. Who's next? And Turkish? Highly unionized, new huge airport opening. The world's a changing, with regard to airlines. Probably wouldn't like it if I were in your shoes. Oh well, I did take the bait, on second thought.

Kind of typical american arrogance response. I've ridden on a lot of above mentioned airlines, much better than Delta.

Heck.... I've been crappier carriers than DAL that serve Remy Martin cognac and fresh and crispy breadsticks.

You gotta realize DAL's target audience is the beer and pretzel crowd....

And all this time from the way some of you guys talk I thought that Delta WAS the crappiest carrier. Well now at least we have something to shoot for.

Had some chick from Yonited give me a hard time on the radio in Vegas for that recently. An hour later we were all on the same hotel elevator. She didn't have much to say face to face.

I had become "friends" with Morisi (the first "reformulative" CEO at the new PEX) on social media. After several months of his antagonistic "Bags should fly for free..." and "Flight changes shouldn't cost anything" rants, I called him out.

"Gee Mike", I said, "Those are pretty big claims to make for an airline that neither planes nor salaries to pay for."

He asked me to refrain from commenting on their official social media page. I'd made my point, so I agreed. I also see with his departure from the airline, that he's completely purged himself and his identity from social media.

Gotta wonder if the lav truck driver that dinged their one and only plane was a paid saboteur?
