SWA reserve

Does anyone know what the SWA reserve “callout” time is in Phoenix? 1 hour, 2 hours? Thanks for any input!

I don't think I'd worry about it too much. Unless it's changed, the way Southwest uses their reserves means you will always be flying on reserve so it doesn't really matter what their callout time is. That's one of the reasons Southwest is so hard to compete with - they're very efficient - no large bunch of guys sitting around getting paid to do nothing. The Southwest guys I know say the only difference between line holders and reserve is the line holders know where they're going before they report to work and a reserve doesn't know until he reports for work.

Sometimes they will call you and have you come to the airport more or less ASAP, and other times you will know a few hours in advance.

Ex/ you get called around 10am for a 1pm show.

Per the contract, minimum callout time is two hours. Sometimes scheds asks for less, but technically you always have two hours.

Thanks

Thanks for the info! What's the word on the street about their Vegas base opening up in October? Do you think it will really happen? Thanks again.

They put together a good team and I have no doubt that it will open as advertised.
