Offline jumpseat on jetBlue?

I searched in advance and all the JB JS threads were pretty old so I decided better to start a new thread rather than necro an old one.

Is there a way I can check JB JS availability without actually bugging a gate agent? If it helps, the commute I'm looking at is the AUS/JFK pairing. No specific dates as of yet, just a little preparation to figure out how I'm going to make it to work. No expectations but it would be a pleasant surprise if I could check JS availability and/or list for a JB JS in advance.

Thanks!

The jetblue process is a pain in the butt. It can take anywhere from 10 minutes to hours to get listed by phone. It is sometimes possible to walk up if you get a nice agent but don't count on it. No listing means you are not going. Plan ahead and get listed in advance.
Best way to check loads is to go to their website and attempt to buy 7 seats. They don't overbook so if they are offered you know at least 7 are available.
JB pilots please try for a walk up Jumpseat in your contract!

When did they change? It's been about 5 yrs since I used the JB JS, but it used to be so easy and nice.

Saber. Winter of 10 I think.

Some agents learned how to do it, others did not. When I was a captain at Blue I would often go do the walk of shame and do the if pilot from so and so does go we don't go. Not everyone does that.

It's actually quite simple. If you don't get a chance to list by phone then stop by the just ask desk and they will take care of you. We generally walk up to the gate to see if there is anyone jumpseating. If the gate agent gives you a problem we (pilots) won't leave until they get over themselves and get you taken care of. I haven't heard of any problems though and apologies to anyone that had issues. We all have some bad gate agents

The ask stations may or may not list you. Twice in the last year they refused stating a listing by phone is a requirement. It's all agent dependent if you do not have a phone listing.

Can someone please tell me what other airlines can JetBlue flight crew jumpseat on and how the Jumpseating "actually" works out with reliability?

I'm going to be commuting out of Pensacola, FL initially.

You can commute on most airlines as a JB pilot. You might want to get a copy of the ALPA Jumpseat guide. Gives you the ins and outs of each airlines procedures.
The commute out of Pcola will not be fun. For a small station probably has more commuters per capita then anywhere.

No truer statement. Start early or the night before and get to ANYWHERE, then take it from there. Spent lots of time there in my younger years, still have family near...wound never consider it with that commute. Terminal might as well be a Delta crew room at certain times of day.

Try nonrev on Facebook. It's a page where everyone helps everyone out as far as loads go. And pretty amazingly quick responses too.

Gents,

Thanks for all the info/feedback on jumpseating and the commute. No choice but to give it a try until hopefully getting MCO or FLL based. My interview group was told that might be possible early on. Seems like most JetBlue guys/gals want BOS or JFK because they live in the Northeast.

It's already gonna be an extra day away from home but I want to make sure its even doable(reliable) from Pensacola.

I've been told P'cola is a tough commute due to the huge number of military guys there. GL.

If you get the Bus, I'd say FLL probably won't take long if any of the latest system bids are any indicator. Some guys have been getting it either straight out of training or shortly thereafter. Depending on what guys senior to you do, MCO could be less than two years if you go with the 190, or you might be looking at longer. It's been pretty tough to gauge.

I've flown with some guys that commuted out of Pensacola when I was in JFK. Two leg no matter how they looked at it, and they knew all the airport hotels in ATL.....

MCO is a very senior base for JBU, you won't hold it quick... If you get the Airbus you could hold FLL in about 6 months. If you get the E190 you will be based in JFK or BOS.
We have A LOT of Florida people at JBU.

Thanks - That's some good info! Hoping to get the Airbus and FLL would be optimum. I have family in Miami so I would not need a crashpad if/when on Reserve.

From what I gathered the majority (60/40) of slots are A320 so hopefully that pans out for me. I'll be retired military so my age should help with class seniority.

Sounds good to and for me:)) - Seems like the A320 and FLL are a good possibility which is exactly what I want and need.

Already preparing for the 2 legs to JFK unless I'm fortunate enough to get FLL out of training (training - understand it's not a given to make it thru). Good thing I have a few friends & family in the ATL(:)

I have heard the same thing. Plus KPNS have cut the number of flights recently.

Eagle has one or two PNS-MIA/day that could be the huckleberry you're looking for. Who knows how long they'll stick with it; panhandle-to-peninsula stuff has been iffy for years...

Lots of training right now on the Airbus for the next 6 months... Last system bid moved about 60 FOs from the E190 to the Airbus... Don't be totally shocked if you get the E190, but of course you have a good chance to get the Airbus.
Don't plan on getting FLL right out of training, 6 months would be a good estimate as we also have JFK and BOS FOs moving down there so slots will be limited.
In any event training is fun and laid back, and I wouldn't consider it crazy to see a FLL-PNS flight be announced with the prices in that market now.
Welcome to JBU!

Was the move to FLL voluntarily or involuntarily?

I'm all for laid back and relaxed. I was thinking the same think about JetBlue getting into this very profitable Pensacola market.

Voluntarily... FLL is growing so it shouldn't be a problem in about 6 months... Of course that's if you get the Airbus. If you get the E190 you will be in JFK or BOS for 2 years until you can transfer.
