JetBlue joined ALPA, now what?

I know JetBlue vote to join ALPA recently, but I don't know much about unions other than the basics. What changes are JetBlue guys expecting in the next few years? Just curious how this changes things.

QOL will increase for the top 25%, decrease for the bottom 75%. Status quo on everything else.

Within the past month or two we have voted in our LEC/MEC representatives and set up a Negotiating Committee. Soon i suspect the negotiating committee will work with the MEC to create surveys for the pilot group and figure out what our priorities are for a contract. Formal negotiations will begin, and the company and ALPA will present their "openers." That will serve as a starting point for negotiations over the next few years.

Probably not many changes related to jetblue joining ALPA over the next year or two, but we are getting a new CEO in Feb 2015, so id expect more changes related to that than anything else.

I read that too (the new CEO), sounds like Wall Street is demanding more per share which some say can only be obtained by charging for bags and packing in more seats. Sounds opposite of what JB was founded on to me. JMHO. Thanks for the reply!

Jetblue gets to spend Delta Pilot's profit sharing check. Don't worry, some of our guys think that's fine.

......Huh?

I wouldn't expect any great change, but understand it may take a couple years to hammer out the first contract.

Good laugh thanks.

For the original topic, not a lot will change for some time, then hopefully lots will change as for our work rules, staffing model, pay, retirement and such.
