American Bar Association News Release:

United CEO Tilton to Speak at ABA Forum on Air & Space Law Conference

CHICAGO, Jan. 8, 2007 – Glenn Tilton, chief executive officer and president of United Airlines, will be a keynote luncheon speaker at the annual update conference of the American Bar Association Forum on Air and Space Law on Feb. 1 at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C. After overseeing the $23 billion restructuring and return to profitability of United, Tilton will provide firsthand insight into recovery of the aviation industry, speaking on “Winds of Change: Cleared for Takeoff?”.

"We're very pleased to have Glenn Tilton join us at our annual gathering of top air and space lawyers during this dynamic time of change," said Forum Chair Capt. David Hayes.

Other expert panelists and pressing issues to be featured during the 2007 Update Conference include Kenneth Feinberg, special master of the federal September 11 Victim’s Compensation Fund, addressing the latest in aviation litigation; John Byerly, with the U.S. State Department, and Daniel Calleja, director of the European Commission’s Air Transport Directorate, discussing opportunities and challenges in international aviation, including the recent European proposal to cover aviation with emissions trading; and Michael Wholley, NASA’s general counsel, and Patricia Grace Smith, administrator for commercial space transportation with the Federal Aviation Administration, providing insight into the future of space ventures.

The ABA Forum on Air and Space Law was created in 1982 to provide vital and timely information in the aviation and space law arenas. The Forum’s more than 1,500 members represent all areas of air and space law, including airlines, airports, the Federal Aviation Administration, the Department of Transportation, and NASA, and include lawyers practicing in corporate, regulatory, litigation, business and antitrust areas. The Forum also publishes The Air and Space Lawyer, a quarterly journal.

With more than 413,000 members, the American Bar Association is the largest voluntary professional membership organization in the world. As the national voice of the legal profession, the ABA works to improve the administration of justice, promotes programs that assist lawyers and judges in their work, accredits law schools, provides continuing legal education, and works to build public understanding around the world of the importance of the rule of law in a democratic society.
