Default Landings class

I'm new to the WB fleet, senior enough to be a line holder, to junior to get flying trips. Each month I bid flying trips, each month I get denied (ie. No sharp shooting).

Is there a benefit to me for trying to get sim landings prior to NQ? Once NQ, can the landings desk drop a class wherever they want, over vacation for example?

The way it was explained to me is that if you dequal they will put the training on a day off at their discretion and you lose pay protection for the trips dropped due to your status. Conversely if you voluntarily do it before dequalling you get add pay and have more control over which day off is used. Seems that it's advantageous to be proactive.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the info, I thought I'd heard an upside to being proactive, I just couldn't remember what it was.

Just bid reserve the month that you are going to go nonqual. Then email the landings people and they'll let you select the date that you want to do the course. I do this every 3 months and it works like a charm. Plus if you select a Monday, guess what. You get the weekend off

actually there is a benefit to the tune of 7.5 hours. If you are smart at bidding (depending on category) you can get close to 90 hours with PBS then add 7.5. email [email protected] within 30 days of NQ, they will get you scheduled on days off with pay along with travel and hotel. Landings sim is a joke. easy and scheduled at 1+10. Downside is you have to travel to DEN/IAH to accomplish. I don't mind it and think its an easy 7.5 hours. I just finished one. I was gone for 22 hours from my driveway total.

Of course depends on if you value the credit time, or days off. Depends on how you want to approach it. Personally, time with family doesn't come round again...
