UAL FA JUmpseat
Can UAL mainline pilots ride the FA jumpseat on mainline aircraft like at other carriers?

UAL FA JUmpseat
Why not ? What's the reasoning behind it ? Or is it just a union thing ?

UAL doesn't just give things like that away. I have heard the VP of Inflight is dead set against it . It would be nice if our ALPA alum Flight Ops VP would grow a pair and firmly remind the other VP that the capt owns all JS. Nah that ain't gonna happen.
That's exactly what happened when the subject came up when I was still flying. Is it worth it? :( |

Ask for the F/A jumpseat and it can be guaranteed that they'll want access to the flight deck jumpseat.

Of course our cabin staff has first access, and there have been many times I have sat on their jumpseat to provide a spot for offline pilots to our flight deck jumpseat. As a disclaimer.. .I am NOT married to a FA, I DON'T have a FA girlfriend and have NEVER dated a FA. But I am starting my 37th year as an airline pilot. It ain't no big deal! OC |

I really don't see an issue with providing access to a either crewmember who would like to utilize MY jumpseat. Flight Attendants are trained regarding the sterile cockpit rules better than most other employee groups that are allowed access. But in the end, it is my option to allow access.
