AA cancels 961 DFW flights due to storm

Just caught the last Delta flight out of DFW tonight...it was like the fall of Saigon with all the AA and Spirit folks trying to get on...I felt like that scene from Independance Day when Air Force One just barely made it before the fireball hit...good luck to DFW commuters tomorrow...😱

Today in CLT I witnessed 4 passengers run to the gate at 8:13 pm for an 8:20. Agent refused to board them citing that the flight was closed, and closed the door and walked down. They had been at special services getting rebooked. Next flight (last flight out) was oversold, no chance for them. They blew an entire day traveling and still ended up stuck because of the "new" goal of closing the door at D-10.

Only reason I made it on is because I plastered myself to the window of the terminal and the pilots told the agent to come get me. There were plenty of open seats.

If we keep treating people like we do, especially after irreg ops, we're not going to have many more customers.

Delta did a survey a couple years ago, asking passengers, would you rather flights run really late or cx and get rebooked. The answer was run the flights! So they do. They don't cancel. Seems Airways has always been gun-shy about running flights really late getting people where they need to go. That is, after all, the business we are pretending to be in. Frustrating seeing the company operate and not being able to do anything about it.

Tough getting to NYC from DFW yesterday. JFK weight restricted. CA had it lifted for jumpseater. Unfortunately, several jumpseaters. Gate agents melting down. Ended up in a 737 cockpit to LGA. Nice company, a free burrito dinner, and a go around in LGA. Good times.

Yet there's still planes on flightaware coming in to land.

This one makes me wonder. One Jumpseater should be built into the certified weight just like 2 pilot are. At least it is that way at my airline. So even if payload is weight restricted, that Jumpseat is not restricted.

That's the way it is at Airways. Pax will be bumped to allow jumpseaters.

Don't tell AA. Their system is far better.

Had it not been for a proactive captain surfing the gate, the gate agents would have held the, "no soup for you" line.

Every pilot should do this. No seat should be empty if there are bodies to put in them.

Delta jumpseaters are not part of a payload optimized flight. OALs are. Still doesn't mean our agents know this.
