Southwest hiring window is open.

The window is open if you're looking to apply.

I just applied via Southwest's webpage.

You don't have to use a third party website like airlineapps.com? I was quite surprised at how quick and spartan the application process was. Come to think of it, I don't even think I saw a spot to upload recommendations.

thoughts?

The initial app is done on the Swa site. It will then trigger an app in pilot credentials which is similar to airline apps. FedEx uses pilot credentials also. At least that's how it was last year.

NoDeskJob 03-05-2015 08:48 AM

So should I expect an email from pilot credentials with a SW ID, or do I just go into pilot credentials now?

Thanks.

I think you can enter your own profile

Logged in to update the SWA Pilot Credentials info and one green check mark had turned red...

"The following required fields are missing values:
Question 6, Question 7, Question 21, Question 37"

Those questions that were not there before:

6. Have you ever had action taken against your certificate in/by an FAA administrative process for a
Flight Violation?

7. Have you ever been restricted from exercising your pilot privileges or “grounded” as the result of performance related or disciplinary action?

21. Have you ever been previously employed by Southwest Airlines? If so, state position(s) and date(s).

37. Have you ever resigned or been removed from a flying, classroom or simulator flight training course
for reasons other than medical or military activation?

Speculation of a personal type for Q's 6, 7, and 37: "Gee we hired some real turds, how can we avoid these floaters going forward"

Speculation for Q 21: Optimist view "We want to help our internal hires" Pessimist view "We hate quitters, so lets make sure we don't take anyone back who left the family."

Thoughts?

It's just simply HR and the lawyers rewriting/adding questions, that's all.

A while back the Delta addendum on airlineapps was doing the SAME THING almost on a monthly basis. Had to keep logging in and check so as none of the new/added questions were all answered.

Thoughts?

I just logged in and had the same four questions unanswer themselves. They may just want people with existing profiles to reaffirm that those four are still accurate in the timeframe the window is open. Just my guess.

Figured it was not unique to SWA, but having logged in every few days since September there had been zero changes the last seven months.

Now for the thread banter: How long will the window stay open?
My guess--Friday the 13th at 1700 Herb time

ZapBrannigan 03-05-2015 10:24 AM

Two weeks is what the email said.

WIKI 03-05-2015 11:48 AM

Yep March 20 closeout it is for the August 2015 class...had to get the email second-hand.

Speculation on when interview invites could start flowing based on previous windows?

Tnkr 03-05-2015 02:15 PM

Just to be sure I did the app correctly, once I have all green check marks I'm gtg, right? I didn't see a 'publish' or submit button anywhere....

Just visiting.

For 2015 interview invites? I thought classes would start in September?

May interviews for a Sep class is what I think he was trying to say.

Couple of questions for SW aps:

1 - After you create the job profile thingy on the SW website, are you supposed to just sit around and wait to see if you get 'invited' by them to do the more in-depth application on 'pilotcredentials' or not? (Yes, this was discussed above but there wasn't much of a definitive answer. FYI, I just loaded all my info on pilotcredentials(dot)com right now but the fact I was able to log into there and upload the info doesn't mean crapola, I think.)

2 - So it's now the 24th of March, and the current window was supposed to close on the 23rd. If you didn't get any kind of an e-mail from SW telling you to add the in-depth info on pilotcredentials by today, does that mean that you got passed over?

I guess the gist of my question is, what's considered an 'application' with Southwest.....just doing the bare-bones stuff on the SW website (including a resume') or going to pilotcredentials(dot)com and filling out the more in-depth ap and ensuring you have all green checkmarks on that site?

Quite frankly, SW's application process is waaaay confusing. :( Surprising for a company with a rep for being so well run.

Just visiting.

All green check marks means good to go. Once your profile is complete it automatically becomes visible to SWA.
