I-TEAM: AIRPORT PROGRAM BYPASSES SECURITY LINES

"It's almost like we have forgotten the lessons of September 11th, 2001," said Schiavo. "The model became every person every time for security and because we don't know who the terrorists may be targeting, we don't know who may pose a danger."

The I-Team also traveled to New York City and captured footage at LaGuardia airport. There were pilots and crew entering the secure gate through the exit entirely bypassing all the screening machines and rolling their unchecked suitcases into the area where the public has been thoroughly checked.

"This system is a huge loophole in the security system. I think that people will be stunned to know that it exists and that they are allowed to roll through or to access the 'sterile area' with no security whatsoever is alarming," said Schiavo.

"Can you imagine if they had weapons or contraband and they had a mental episode on a plane?" said Schiavo. "You know I am scared to think about what might have happened."

"Just because no one has taken advantage of the loopholes yet doesn't mean that they won't. I think there hasn't been a loss of life that anyone has documented and I don't want to wait for that," said Schiavo.

The I-Team also discovered that crew team members do not need to be in uniform and do not even have to be going to work to flash their badge and bypass the screening machines.

Ah, Scary Mary at it again.

"We've even received reports that these so-called 'pilots' control the airplane for a portion of every single flight. This is obviously a blatant and unacceptable security risk."

Aviation's version of an ambulance chaser. Slimy lawyer through and through.

Everyone should use the report a typo link and let your voice be heard by ABC 11. Irresponsible journalism at its best.

I'd be more concerned about the constant flow of LEOs and department of agriculture officials who carry firearms aboard before worrying about kcm.

Good Lord-

Will that woman ever go away?

She is such a ball of crap! She has been whipping up crazy stories about airlines for decades while she has been suing them (the news people never disclose that she is an attorney who sues airlines.)

She has really said some crazy stuff over the years. I remember her freaking out back in the day when she saw a mechanic working on a plane with "car tools." (He was using a screwdriver to replace a nav light.) She had a live remote going about that one.

And the best one:

When Egypt air had that breakup and crash over the ocean, Mary showed up with pics of a Cirrus floating safely back to earth on a parachute-and she was screaming about how negligent it is for airliners not to come with parachutes!

She is a real piece of work. If "journalists" did their jobs-and checked her out, she would never be on TV in the first place. I could go on an on about stuff she has said (hell-she was on air spouting nutty stuff full-time after that Malaysia crash.) She really has a long history of being a nutter on aviation stuff. Bad combo of arrogance and very little (if any) technical knowledge.

-But we all know that modern media is more about sensationalism than anything else. Whomever screams the most and spouts the most crazy, irresponsible stuff gets the air time.

I am amazed that she hasn't been disbarred. Spouting all the crazy stuff on TV and then suing the airlines and various other industry entities is so incredibly unethical.

Maybe this moron should concern herself and expose the BIGGER loophole and GREATER threat at airports. Those employees who don't go through ANY screening but have access to our aircraft.

Here she is in another interview where she really lays it on thick...

Not to mention the "trusted employees" (IE: pretty much everyone but pilots and FAs) that walk in the back door unchecked.

Agreed. Last time I checked, the X-ray machines don't detect depression or psychological problems.

All the clicking, viewing, and responding does is increase their impressions and encourages more stories like it. Just ignore it and it will go away. It's not even real news.
