Default CASS and MLOA

I tried to use an OAL jumpseat last night but was denied by the CASS system. I havent tried to JS on a CASS compliant airline before, and can only assume that I'm in the database as non-active due to being on MLOA (long term...over a year). I can JS on my airline (DAL), and have used OAL's as recently as October, but I dont think they were CASS then (Frontier).

Anyone know the rules about this, if I can JS on my airline, then its not a security issue. Missed out on 2ft of new snow to ski when I couldnt get aboard the flight to ANC!! I coulda cried....

It is company specific whether to sideline you on CASS when on extended MIL LOA. Best of luck to you and thank you for your service to our country.

Kudos to Delta for allowing you to still ride while you are on LOA. It is because you are an employee there. But other airlines probably won't let you. Same as if you were on Medical or personal LOA. You have to be an active pilot (usually) to j/s.

I'd call your ALPA jumpseat coordinator for details, my guess is that you do need to be an "active" pilot to be listed in CASS. Kudos to DAL for letting you ride while on LOA, that's a good deal.
