Delta International Jumpseat Help

To my Delta Brothers and sisters.

Trying to jumpseat international for the first time from SEA to HKG on Flight 281 on Monday. Any special procedures that one must take. I viewed the seats charts on the public website and looks wide open. Any insights or suggestions like when to arrive, airport taxes, number to list or email the Capt etc would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your time.

I think you have to be checked in 90 minutes prior to departure time. Check in with the customer service counter to pay any taxes that may be required and you'll be good to go. The flight looks great. There aren't that many nonrevs listed

Don't take this as Gospel, but I don't think there are any taxes leaving the U.S. I am sure the Chinese won't be so friendly.

Will that be a 4 person crew?

I just did this SEA AMS. No taxes but the agent ran a $0 visa charge to generate a boarding pass. I dressed in a suit and gave the purser a bag of Seattle chocolates as I boarded and introduced myself to the captain. They asked if I had a seat and I told them I had one on the back. I took my seat hoping to be upgraded but happy to have any seat. Sure enough, just prior to push I was offered a seat in first class. Sweet.

On the way Home I jumped on United and was stuck in the back. I was told by the lead FA that Star alliance policy is to never upgrade. I can't verify but there was no attempt to move me up.

Any seat on a long haul international flight is a great benefit. I'm grateful we still have it.

Thank you Delta and United.

Never heard that and I think the F/A is full of it....big surprise there.

I used to j/s int'l quite frequently....albeit it has been some time.
I had one for IROs come back and apologize to me that first wasn't available.

I do jumpseat on United twice a year to Europe, but it's been a long time since I have been upgraded. Dont get me wrong, I am very grateful to be able to ride in eoconomy. it seems that a lot of time they upgrade a lot of passengers to business or first, but last time I went, business was wide open, and nothing.
Don't know if I should bring a truck load of chocolates, but either I am doing something wrong, or there is some truth that they dont.
Could it be a ex-Continental or ex-United thing ?

Definitely not an L-UAL thing. Did quite a bit of international jumpseating on them before the merger and they were always my carrier of choice as I never rode less than biz (very grateful for that, thank you!). Later found out it was policy to sit J/S's in J class on international flights, very classy I thought. It's a shame that hasn't seemed to transfer over to the new UAL. Don't get me wrong, when riding the "jumpseat" I/we are all always very happy for any seat! But, let's not kid ourselves it really is nice when you have a bit of extra room on the long flights.
