When my seat lock comes up I will for sure entertain the idea of the 737/320 fleet. But then again, at that point in time who knows what I could hold. All I know if for right now the international QOL even on reserve with a cross country commute beats the hell out of my 13-15 days off at a regional doing consistent 12-13 hour duty days just to fly 5 hours.

I commute from out West and hoping to get based out in LAX/SFO sometime soon. The EWR trip quality really makes the long commute not so bad. The earliest I have had to report for a trip was 4 PM and the latest I have finished a trip is 3 PM. I often find myself rolling through the customs exit around 1 PM. That type of flying makes it really hard to want to go back to 5 AM reports and finishing at 2200.

Thanks for the quick response!

My pleasure! I am always more than happy to answer any questions anyone may have about life over here. Really hope you get the call soon. It really is a great pilot group to be a part of. Best of luck and let me know if you have any other questions.

If you wanted international but the 756 fleet wasn't offered, chances of getting a 756 spot in one of these huge vacancy bids is possible. Hope that answers your question.

"Eat when you're tired, sleep when you're hungry".
A tip I heard that occasionally worked for me is get to hotel, take a hot shower, go to bed right away. But not longer than 4 hours or so. Doenst always work, just depends.
And it may be suited to longer/Asia type flying and not Europe/SA.

Along the lines of domestic when you're on your second early show following a circadian rhythm switch and get to the hotel around noon and want a nap. But it takes discipline to ONLY sleep a brief period of time because it'd be SO EASY to just keep sleeping. And screwing yourself in the process.......

Read about the circadian rhythm and sleep science in depth and you will conclude that waking up early vs. staying up all night are two entirely different scenarios, the latter being unhealthy and crossing out 100% of the deep sleep which cannot be replaced with naps later in the day like missed REM (late stage) sleep can.

It really all depends on if the company needs to staff the B756 fleet or not. When I got hired the first 6 months of 2015 had a very heavy demand on new hires into that fleet. It generally ran junior as it was a more senior fleet compared to the 737 or Bus. Now with that said, I have friends hired a few months prior when only the 737/Bus was available. At any point since then, they could bid up into the 756 during vacancy bids and if their seniority could hold it. However those that got awarded the 756 couldn't bid down to the 737/Bus due to seat lock language. So that's the skinny at United for new hires.
