And remind me again about Jet Blue... and what's the name of that airline from Dallas funny painted airplanes that started with o couple of leased 727s:)?

Who knows... it appears that EAL will be invading in AA's territory and get squashed. But hey... who's to say? Maybe EAL has a bottomless pit of financial resources to ride out the storm:rolleyes:.

I don't know of any ACMI operations that went scheduled that succeeded either. ATA and Trans Meridian come to mind.

Also, Eastern screwed up their certification process. They went thru the process as a 121 supplemental. It will cost them a TON of money to get re certified as a straight 121 carrier. Millions. To have the synergy to be a startup, there must be at least four aircraft operating. Anything less and you're p***ing up a rope. Been there, done that.

I guess you conveniently forgot that Virgin America has one of the richest sugar Daddies in the world who carried them for something like 50 money losing quarters. Somehow, I don't think New Eastern is in the same boat.

I didn't forget, the gist at the time was that Virgin would get pummeled by the big guy's or never achieve certification or fail because of it's business plan. My point being that one never knows.

Two very different situations...., VA was started with the right concept and managed by people that have been successful in startups before......., and like someone said...., enough cash support to weather the storm of the post 9/11 business environment.

I realize that some might disagree but the fact that they are holding on and survived a very difficult time for the aviation business is proof enough that now that the market is turning a profit they should be around for a while.

The management team at EAL in the other hand......, have proven over many years and many failed attempts that they couldn't manage an airline in any market even if the fuel and employee costs were free:rolleyes:

regarding the website link above, I found: Eastern Air Lines Group, Inc - Airlines in the United States
regarding number of aircraft, they have 737 deliveries spread out into the 2020s and up to 40 MRJs on order for flying the Caribbean:

50 money losing quarters? They have only been flying for 33 quarters. "Sugar Daddy" RB did not carry them. They have investors with deep pockets and, better yet, patience. VA has shown consecutive quarterly profits for 3 years, had a successful IPO, and those investors are now being rewarded for their risk. To say RB carried them like a mistress is ignorant.
Look at Frontier 3 years ago! They were about to shut the doors. Now they are growing like a weed and turning out profits every quarter.
You never know.

As I stated in a previous thread. My good friend their said Eddie Rickenbacker would be rolling in his grave at this management. What he told me is that The current management is picking up where Lorenzo left off. Just another 36 Street Mafia who at best will be a Charter Airline that competes with Miami Air and the likes.

I don't know... The server at Pollo Loco said quite the opposite.
