Saw it from the ground. Media is reporting it as a meteor, said no launches happened. That would explain why ATC didn't know.

Edit: navy says they launched an unarmed middle, but there's also a meteor shower going on for a few days.

Doubt they would have any reason to; the rocket was launched off shore, from a submarine. That airspace belongs to Los Angeles.

Navy says it was a test launch of an unarmed Trident missile:

So it obviously wasn't that. :cool:

Navy does the Trident Missle launches from time to time to make sure our birds can still fly and hit their targets in case we ever need them. The Air Force does all of their Minuteman 3 Missle tests out of Vandenberg AFB as well.
