That goes for most things not just your politics.
Qotsa,
I would say in general, but there are areas of this country that are so heavily weighted in one party that the other effectively has no say and a real "group think" starts to set in.

In Hawaii, there is literally like 5 Republican politicians in the whole state, from county/state and federal level so if you believe in any sort balanced budget, or not bought into the dogma of the ruling party you pretty much keep to yourself.
I'm sure there are parts of the country where the opposite is true, I just haven't ran across them personally.

Like the other poster said though, it's a misnomer that all of Oregon and Washington is deep blue, it's just that the population centers are which controls the federal elections, when you get down to the state politics, it's much more dispersed than would outwardly appear.

That billboard was about 5 miles from my house.

Before Boeing became the "plane-maker to the world", Seattle was a logging (Weyerhauser), shipping, and fishing town. Blue collar, but mostly middle-of-the-road politically. It only took its dramatic turn toward progressive politics after the 80s.

This right here! Sendona and Austin come to mind...mainly because I have friends that grew up there and have all but been priced out of their own home town. That's what happens when people move into town and think it's reasonable to buy a 1900 sq ft house for 575k or a 1700 sq ft house for 700k. Dang free market.

Reviving the thread. Does anyone live in Enumclaw? How’s life down that way?

I live in Bonney Lake. Just down the road from Enumclaw. Both towns are great. Enumclaw has a nice little Main Street with some really good restaurants and bars. Definitely more house and land for your money.

After the merger I was bumped from LAX. Based on all the domiciles I decided on SEA. So rented out the house in Santa Barbara, met this character Denny Crane at a place called Steve’s for some beer (funny that guy never works and plays cards with a bunch retired Boeing engineers, yet flys the bus)

I gave Seattle 5 years, lived in Redmond. Traffic is bad. 22 miles from Seatac but takes as long to drive 90 miles south to LAX from Santa Barbara, 2hours. Weather? Like living in a car wash. No state income tax for the moment yes. But nothing is free and and they get it from you other ways. Liberal yes, as bad as cali? No...

Seahawk fans? Worst than the weather and traffic combined. I mean they are complaining about the moron that went into the stands yesterday because he was disrespected by Jaguar fan, seriously..???

They forget they threw beer and popcorn on Navaro Bowman in the NFC championship game after being carted off with a gruesome knee injury. But I digress.

I like Seattle a lot. Next time i will live farther out and base that on traffic patterns, maybe one of those ellusive rain shadow communities. Also move back when senior enough to enjoy the summer( fourth of july through august 20th. )

I will just enjoy the fact that Seahawks are a program in decline and having thrown on 2nd and goal in the super bowl they are still 4 rings short of a dynasty. Cant dispute the facts...

In All seriousness, loved seattle. Great city. Just plan for the commute. And keep a bottle of bleach handy to kill the mold....

When I first moved there and I told people I just moved up from Santa Barbara they said “why did you do that?” When I left 5 years later they asked why I wanted to pay the taxes and live with all the liberals , i said “because it is worth it”

I don't see how going from all home games black out in the early 90's, along with drafting Rick Mirer, who was a bust, having a disgruntle owner who temporary move the team to LA in 1996. From that point to what is is now considered a "decline". True fans will always remember how bad it was during the 90's when they were still in the AFC.

I was wondering the same thing. East of the Cascade Mountains is the rain shadow. But then you have to cross the pass in lots of snow come winter.

I have friends in Pasco, WA (PSC). They get 6” of rain a year. The drive to Seattle is 4 hours. If the pass is being blasted for avalanche control, it may be 10 hours with chains.

Alternatively, Horizon has 6 flights a day in that are 40 minutes long. Usually a few seats available each flight. Good flight on a Q400 turboprop except when it is fogged in the last flight in, and thus first flight out for the day.

I have met some Horizon / Alaska Pilots that commute from there. Pretty easy for a commute, they say.
