Question for CAL pilots
For those of you who are based in Guam, how do you like it? Is the cost of living out of hand? Would you stay there longer than you had to? Is it a senior base? What kind of equipment fly in that area?

HI,
I'm by no means a Continental pilot (unfortunatly:D ), but I figured the search engine isn't applicable for you yet so I just searched a few threads for you. The topic has been discussed several times. http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/sh...highlight=guam http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/sh...highlight=guam http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/sh...highlight=guam http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/sh...highlight=guam Hope this helps you a bit. -Jakob |
Guam life
Don't worry about getting Guam if you come to CAL. You can't hold it until you've been here for at least a year. It is fairly senior and all they fly there are the 737-800 doing ETOPS to some cool destinations. The trips are pretty much all turns (out and backs if your lingo prefers). I don't know about the cost of living, but if you're single, love scuba diving and island girls, then go there. If you're married and like to live in the 48 normal states, then stay mainland.
However, when they ask you in the interview if what you would do if you got that as a new hire, smile big and say that you'd love it :) |
Free Flyer,
I believe that there were vacancies on the last system bid for Guam. If that's this case then there should be some new hires assigned Guam in the near future. |
