Um, no. Why post stuff like this? Are you trying to trick newhires into bidding the 756 in hopes of it being a widebody lifestyle? Either that or trick guys who might have a choice between two carriers, but think they will hold a widebody as a newhire?
You might train on a 767 widebody, but the chances of you actually flying one as a newhire are pretty slim. It would definitely be the exception (on reserve), not the rule. The widebody pay is only on the 767-400(only 16 on property). The 756 fleet definitely doesn't have the "widebody QOL" that one expects when they fly a widebody.
I've been here since 2007 and still can't hold a line on any widebody in the system (can't hold 767-400 flying either), so the "fluffers" on here talking about candy and roses with respect to widebody flying should probably tell the whole truth.
Just because someone can hold a reserve widebody spot (reserve) within a year (if that is the case) doesn't mean much. If you are local to EWR or SFO, a widebody reserve wouldn't be such a bad gig, or if your commute is an easy one to these bases to sit short call in a crashpad.
IAH is the most senior widebody base now, followed shortly by LAX, then probably SFO/ORD, then EWR/IAD. As we get more 787s, SFO will become one of the more junior WB bases again, but for the next few years, you will see SFO and ORD 747 guys bid into whatever widebody fleet UAL decides to replace the 747 with (which right now sounds like will be the 777-300ERs that will start arrival at the end of this year). You are also seeing a large movement in SFO and LAX of 777/747 pilots bidding over to the 787 since the fence came down.

Hey, sorry, that wasn't my goal at all. Delta has (or at least had not too long ago) guys going to the 757/767 in NYC also. Similar deal, it's junior for a reason. Someone asked how long to hold a widebody,I answered the question. I understand what you're saying and I agree with you that to actually hold anything decent is a long time. But if you live in NYC and want to sit reserve and fly to Europe, you will fly the 767 a fair amount. But no, the lifestyle is nothing like a 777 lineholder.

But yeah the 763 shows up from time to time for us junior guys - I know that doesn't "count". The days-off part of the lifestyle doesn't happen but the destinations and sort of flying are a pretty cool change from commuter life, as long as you like the first break and landings class
