Having a Positive Attitude at Work

Officially, Your Employer Can't Force You To Be Happy At Work

Rahlifer 05-07-2016 04:27 PM

"However, requiring that employees act positive, regardless of working conditions, isn’t allowed. If employers want positivity in the workplace, fine. But they have to create the kind of environment that leads their employees to be happy, rather than simply decreeing that no one is allowed to have an argument at work."

The beatings will continue until morale improves. :p

Okay, for starters this is pure crap. From the standpoint that first year pilots are on probation and can be fired for whatever reason the CP can think of. Seen it happen more than once and there's not a damn thing anyone can do about it.

Realistically how many people get canned on probation? I can think of only 1 in the the few years I've been around, maybe a few more that should have been.

Realistically, I've seen it happen more than a few times in the almost twenty years I've been flying 121 ops. Recently, I've seen it happen twice. Point being, the Labor Dept can beat their drums about this issue all they want but they won't lift a finger to help out the little guy. The cards are stacked in the Employers' favor and realistically the probationary employee better not be spouting off negativity or they will be fired. So yeah, implying a positive attitude must be displayed (or you'll be canned) is a reality.

What were the 'unjustified' firings?

All the ones I've heard of were justified - not doing a walk around because it's raining. Having sexual assault complaints filed by several f/a's. Destroying a hotel room and being recorded drinking within 8 hrs of flight.

What's even crazy is what guys have gotten away with, or even survived disciplinary hearings, or gotten their jobs back after bring fired.
