Yes, there are lots of stupid people out there. At least most people who read The Onion know to not take their articles seriously.

That guy is an actor I just can't remember from where

Jamers 02-12-2007 08:31 PM

Yeah, doesn't that guy look exactly like Jean Claude van Damme? If it is him, he truely is the Top Gun....

GulfstreamPilot 02-12-2007 09:09 PM

I've seen that dufus's mug on some wham bam Zero to Airline in a week type program in the back of magazines.

juxtapilot 02-12-2007 10:57 PM

He looked so familiar... So I dug out my Flying Mag collection... Check out January 06' page 91. (Everglades University ad) Same guy I think... :) (For those who had the hankerin' to know.)

There's been good coverage of a couple good air disasters in The Onion over the years, this one's my favorite:

http://www.theonion.com/content/node/28494

Like the FAA says:

"There is special providence in the fall of the sparrow," Whelan said. "If it be now, 'tis not to come; if it be not to come, it will be now; if it be not now, yet it will come. The readiness is all. Since no man of aught he leaves knows, what isn't to leave betimes? Let be."

Or in other words, sh*t happens.

Flying Low 02-12-2007 11:43 PM

this one's kind of funny, too. except the photo's a -9/MD-80. amatuers.

FliFast 02-14-2007 05:18 PM

Wow, another humble pilot that I can't wait to fly with. Maybe he can teach me a thing or two about the dreaded, inverted ILS with a landing to hold short.
