The commonality with the A330 CEO should help but the A330-900 is not doing well. At least if we want more they will be available ASAP.

Airbus is definitely hoping for an orders boost as A330-300 and -200 retirements increase in a few years. The bulk of the in service airplanes are just too new to need replacement yet. There won't be meaningful numbers reaching 20 years old until 2020 at least.

I have always felt that the 787-10 would have been a natural for us and a better option than the 330-900. All the things that the company loves about the A330 seem to be perfected in the 787-10, albeit a larger airplane, but perfectly suited to hauling lots of pax over medium distances without extra range. I still think it will wind up in our fleet one day.
