The 737 getting stretch to much?
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-09-08/boeing-said-to-mull-stretching-737-to-counter-airbus-a321neo-jet?cmpid=yhoo.headline&yptr=yahoo
Seems to me, the 737 is getting stretched like the crj did(to much for its size)

Boeing had the plane they're trying to reinvent, the 757. Everyone wanted one type that could be right sized for the market and the 737 won. Boeing should have made a 757-50 for smaller markets.

I've flown both the 767-400 and the 757-300. I misread your post. Apologies.
Frankly I'm surprised Boeing made the -300 with steam gauges as late as 2004.
I've been told that airframe is the biggest money-maker at Delta (margin-wise.)

The 737 getting stretch to much?
Yes but the DCs/MDs/CRJs have a main gear muchhhh further back on the airframe. The 737-900 is virtually useless going into Central and South America, or any high altitude airport due to approach speeds for tail clearance on landing. I'm also curious if the 777-8/9 are going to have any issue.
I remember reading in United hemispheres magazine that they were replacing the 757 with the 737-900. Makes sense. Let's replace a "relatively" modern late-80s and 90s jet, with a stretched version of a jet that's 20 years older.
