Low morale but likely better contract eventually at Spirit.
As much as I like to rip on Allegiant for their MX, you should probably pick the airline that is closest to where you want to live if QOL is your largest factor. As far as the contract goes at Spirit, I would expect it to surpass what Allegiant has now by a considerable margin.

I'd be lucky to get 5 years in with day trips as a CA in those bases with a 30 year career at the cost of sitting decades of hard time in the hotel.
Completely wrong. You can be a senior FO on the 88 flying turns in a year. 15 to 20 years you will be a very senior narrow body Captain or widebody CA if you choose. Also keep in mind with the higher pay at a legacy you can fly fewer hours.

Per UAL hiring page on flying together. Just because you say there are "A lot" of guys senior/younger than you doesn't mean squat when we are debating the possibility of day trip lines after 20 years.

No, but you said the entire seniority list will be gone in 20-25 years. My buddies that are in their early to mid 30s are going to be very disappointed to find out they have to retire at 50-55.

Words mean things and far too long this place has been based onn "alternate facts". If, as you say, the entire seniority list at UAL will be gone in 20-25 years, then every single pilot at United is over 40 and that is NOT true no matter how you spin it. Let's all try to be a little more factual around here.

In regards to possibility of day lines, I think you're right, it's clearly not going to be 20 years before someone hired today at a legacy could hold day lines if they wanted them.

Completly wrong? Where can you have all day trips in a year? In LGA/EWR/JFK? Are you taking about the bases I listed? I don't think so...

You became a pilot to stay home? There are careers that don't involve travel, flying is travel--enjoy it. Driving to the airport more than twice a month, now that's a problem.

Why do some Doctors and Lawyers choose to teach and not practice? I became a pilot because of an interest with aviation--airplanes. Traveling is an ancillary product, not the primary motivation for me. That’s what vacation is for. Having done all the 3 to 8 day trips to last a lifetime. Growing old in the Hilton is not desirable anymore for me, if I can avoid it and live where I live. Day trips readily attainable in the iron triangle don’t count, unless you happen to live there.

Driving to and from the airport minutes from my house, not a problem.

Spirit guy here... This month I'll be in a bed that isn't mine 11 nights. That's pretty standard. I'm a line holder that lives in base. When I was on RSV, it was probably more like 7 or 8 nights not in my bed. If you commute, it will be more. You're rolling the bones no matter where you decide to go. Do what makes sense now. $#!T changes every day in this industry and you won't know if you made the right choice until you're sparking up your glaucoma medicine after your water salute.

No I just happened to stumble across the day trip gem later on. I enjoyed traveling at first but being home on a daily basis with my family is more rewarding in the long run to me. Driving 10 minutes to the airport with a 3 minute walk to the plane with no vans, trams or shuttles is not much of a problem. I feed my travel fix by taking a lot of vacations with the family, which to me is a more satisflying way to see the world but YMMV.

And when that ULCC decides one day to close that one base?
