Yes, it will continue 15 years from now. That is the cornerstone of our business model.

Will Allegiant eventually begin overnights? Yes. There are only a limited number of underserved markets (that fall within 4 hours flight time of a base) that make up our cornerstone. That is why we have seen a departure from the typical G4 routes, airports, and frequency pattern. But day turns will always remain.

As far as our "hated temporary basing program," are you talking about TDY bases? That is a very small portion of what we do now. I know of only 1 seasonal TDY base (Myrtle Beach) and I think it's small and filled with volunteers.

It's pretty simple...

If consumer reports had to do one of their useful graphs on "FO Allegiant" vs "FO Spirit" without too much consideration for the medium to long term future (because that's all way too unpredictable no matter where you go) and with the consideration that you will live in a base... I think Allegiant wins "overall score" hands down. I think most would probably agree.

In the present day, Allegiant is a better place to be than Spirit (if you live in base). CP has told me that we have applicants who are currently at Spirit and Frontier (take that with a grain of salt of course).

my 2 cents

Kind of a dumb move IMO to leave Spirit for Allegiant. That would be incredibly short sighted considering a TA is probably closer than the time it would take for them to get to 2nd year PAY at Allegiant. Unless they live in an Allegiant base I just don't buy it

I work 10 days per month on average at Allegiant (my choice), home every night where I live, and I'm now senior enough to hold nearly all weekends off. I'll confess that I'm in a larger base where that is possible and there are some bases where people are not happy as a result because the small size doesn't make for good schedules if you are trying to commute.

I've only been here less than two years, but I can see things are changing for the better in the maintenance department. I can't speak to the MD80 though, for all I know those guys might think I'm crazy. The thing about the airbus though is many problems are identified before you even pushback. Just better technology.

Spirit has not had 1 pilot leave for anywhere but UAL, AA, DAL, FedEx, UPS, and SWA... fact. This appears to be a rather jaded opinion. The 99% concensus at Spirit is that the new Allegiant contract would've been laughed at and never ratified

Beats being stuck in an RJ listening to you, you never cease to amaze your uneducated arrogant attitude... we were presented with a proposal over a year ago very close to Allegiant's current rates... it was as I said before laughed at

You realize of course that the new Allegiant contract for a short time paid more than Delta on similar equipment until Delta recently ratified their new contract. Allegiant Captains will top out at $232/hr in year 12 (DOS +5). Not too bad for a first contract in my opinion, especially considering you can upgrade in two years. We do not have a pension unfortunately but do have a 200% match on 401k. It's not United or Delta clearly, but does have a unique benefit of no overnights if that's important to you.

I'm still in the honeymoon phase, but I've never lived in base before, I've always been a commuter, even on reserve. To me this is like waking up from a long bad dream. I'm "middle age" so my perspective is going to be different than a 30 year old.
