CAL mins

What's the mins they are going by?

I just talked to a EWR 73 FO she couldnt have been over 25yrs old with under 3000tt with less than a few months in the left seat of an RJ. I would think they would be looking in the >7000tt range with 1000pic turb min.

Whats competitive? CAL DAL etc...

I wonder if you could EDIT the title....so that we don't think you are asking if CAL is still @ 300 and 3/4 :)....maybe: CAL Hiring Minimums???

You can get hired right at their published mins if you have a good internal rec or did a college internship...I've known several junior FO's leave RJ's for CAL in last 2 years. One even offered to get ME an interview, but the geography just wouldn't work out :(

Any word on that LAX base? :D

Ottopilot 02-23-2007 05:58 PM

I had 11,000 hours (most PIC turbine) when hired at CAL, but then I'm an ugly white guy with no friends or relatives at CAL. :D

JoeyMeatballs 02-23-2007 06:01 PM

nice the old fashioned way, I respect it............

Ve764 02-23-2007 08:24 PM

Hey Otto, I'm an ugly black guy with 10,000 TT 4859 PIC turbine. I'd like to follow your lead to CAL.

Ottopilot 02-24-2007 05:23 AM

Come on over. Got your stuff in? Good luck. I like it here.

Yeah you got your job handed to you per the flow through agreement. Stop telling everyone how you "earned" your job and what a tough road it was.

Find my quote and paste it where I said the above: "earned my job" and/or "tough road it was". Please do it. I'd like to read it.

For your information, I did not get the flow through agreement. I would have if 9/11 didn't happen.

Correct, but you did brag about your "11,000 hrs, and most of it turbine PIC", as well as "no friends or relatives". It wouldn't matter if you had half the time, you still would have gone to CAL on the flowthrough/pref group. If it were not for one or other, care to elaborate how you did it? If it was now, and you had your "11,000hrs" but not friends or relatives at CAL, do you think they would call you? Doubt it.

So I paraphrased. That is basically what you always say. I have all these hours, spent all these years at Express so now I fly the big 767. I know how you got your job. It was my mistake putting you in the "118" and not in the "P.I.G." group. None the less you still got your job handed to you while the rest of us have to try and find a way to "earn" it.

I am not jelaous of any of you guys that got there that way a lot of my friends are there bacause of the PIG. They just don't go around bragging about how they fly the 767 and all of their sacrifices to get there.

JoeyMeatballs 02-24-2007 08:18 AM

I love CAL hey had 100% flowback, and what was it like 20% flow through????? Otto where you a PIG?

Where do get bragging? The thread is CAL mins and I stated mine. Hired with lots of time is not bragging; hired with lower time might be. People always read into the posts what they want. You sound bitter. Does it matter if I got hired by the flow through, 118, PIG, other? The thread is CAL mins and that is what was being discussed. Try starting your own bitter thread on how you didn't get here while everyone else did.

The difference between the 118 and PIG group is timing/seniority. The 118 passed an interview and were scheduled to start CAL around 9/11. The PIG group passed their interview and started after the 118.

I fly the 757. I'm not senior enough to fly the 767, nor did I ever brag about flying it. I interviewed for my job at CAL. Some made it, some didn't. No one handed me anything; I passed the interview, the 737 training, the 757/767 training, etc. Again, quote me from any thread about my "sacrifices" that you talk about me making. You say that you are not jealous, but it bothers you when anyone who made it to CAL posts anything.

Nope, not bitter. Sorry. I have to agree with the other guy, you do have a tendency to come off as "I spent all this time at Express and now I'm flying the 75 at CAL. I earned it". And any time you tell somebody how many hours you have is sticking your chest out and bragging. Sorry if you don't agree, but I doubt I'm the only one that sees it that way.

So, were you 118 or PIG? You never answered. I don't care how you define it, if you were, that is a connection.

David Watts 02-24-2007 09:38 AM

You can not compare your situation with other new hires at CAL. You got to interview because you were on property at Express win contract 98 passed. I am very familiar with the flow through, the 118, and the PIGs. Your mins are not typical for a CAL new hire. You were offered an interview per the flow through in 2002. No other new hires at CAL were being interviewed then. I have been at Express a long time, not long enough to get an interview there, but long enough to have spent 5 years as an FO. If CAL ever calls I would be more than happy to take the interview and hopefully the job. I will just remember where I came from.

In most of your posts you come through real arrogant. That is how a lot of people read them. That may not be your intention that is how it comes through.

I know the topic of the thread and I don't think that you are a realilistic new hire min at CAL.

Quote me where it bothers me when anyone who made a post on anything about CAL. It does not bother me nor am I jealous. It bothers me when you tell have truths about CAL and Express. Though no jealousy.

I don't know, 11,000 hours of nearly all turbine PIC sounds like he payed a due or two. Why must you bust the proverbial balls.
