Default Manfred von Richtofen "Red Baron"

21 April 1918: Exactly 100 years ago today, Manfred von Richtofen, Germany's leading WW1 ace was killed. It is thought that he was mortally wounded by ground fire (he managed to make a forced landing with the plane mostly intact.)

Who doesn't remember reading about the "Red Baron", or building a model of the bright red Fokker Triplane ? Although on the enemy side, his tactics, and quotes have made their way into air combat publications. Enjoy the linked song/ slide show.
