good ole' Carl
Carl and me....
Carl and I did **** tests together after we hit a deer on landing at 3 am in the morning in ART. I remember him not being to happy about it and wondering how the deer got out of the **** test?
Carl back in the day got more phone numbers from hot chicks than anyone I know as they got off the Beech in some God awful places. Seeing is believing and that was what I saw more than a couple of times.
Carl after hitting a deer in ART with me and smashing a coyote on the takeoff roll (aborted takeoff) in Ogdensburg and totalling a Beech (144) everybody was safe, says one day " I am against hunting I love animals" I asked if he had told the deer and the coyote that?
Carl sleeping on a 5 and 1/2 feet air matress in LNS was funny!
Carl drop kicking my coffee all over the console of a beech on our flight back to ART from PIT as he got into the FO's seat and without missing a beat says " Are you ready for the Before Start checklist?"
Man I loved the guy, he made laugh, He was a great stick and fun to fly with in the beech weather. You will be missed my good buddy. Flaps up Yaw damp ON!

I thought of you when I first heard the news but don't have your number...funny we were just talking about Carl the other day. This has really been bumming me out ever since I heard it... unbelievable to be struck down by a heart attack at Carl's age & shape...

Yeah, I would concur, probably mid-30s. And in tip top shape; he was training for triathlons. He was gearing to make a run at the Escape from Alcatraz race. I am absolutely shocked that a person with so much vigor and life could be struck down so soon. He is in our thoughts and prayers.

When I first flew with Carl, he was all about teaching and passing on his knowledge on to others. He taught me some very important things: 1. Trim is very important. 2. Be proud of your job and accomplishments. 3. Passenger comfort is very important and do everything you can to make the ride enjoyable. Those things I will never forget.

When I first met Carl, he was a new hire at AMW, they sent him to me to evaluate, as they thought he wasn't good enough. He was scared, tight in knots, emotions, but mustered the gumption to surprize everyone. He studied, steadied himself, and came through shining... He became a friend who showed me that when we least expect it, we are taught by others how to live. Little did I know that while I thought I'd teach him how to fly, he would teach me how to hope!
Carl, I'll miss your spirit and your voice! Rest well, Captain!
