If DAL/NWA...pilot migration?

It could be several months/years before any merger becomes cemented...but if it does get approved, and after all fences are resolved...are more guys going to move north or south?

Sounds like a silly question, but I've talked to at least 20 DAL guys commuting from or hoping to move to MSP.

It's not silly - I imagine there will be a time when people can switch bases or whatever. I'm NYC based but live 25 minutes from DTW. If this happens, I'll want to get to DTW. I'm sure there are DTW pilots who live in the NE who will want to switch to NYC as well.

This is a very good question and one that will have a large affect on the relative seniority of all of us. I would guess, that if DTW and CVG are closed or downsized:

ATL M88 will start going much senior, many of the CVG guys will choose this over NYC

ATL 76 ( all platforms) again more senior as the CVG guys move south

NYC ER will have some of the senior CVG guys going over there, probably only those who hold pretty senior lines. This of course, will push down those on the lower part of the NYC ER category.

NW and DELTA pilots changing bases? I would guess that LAX fills up quickly with NW guys who live in California.

If we get to keep CVG or DTW than those guys will likely cross over to the other bases.

This is just my guess. I really hope it works out for all of us!

I don't think CVG and DTW are going anywhere. Conventional wisdom would suggest that CVG and MEM will be downsized or cut all together as hubs in favor of ATL and DTW.

DTW is going nowhere, I would expect it to actually be one of the biggest hubs

I would agree....NW has a nice operation there in DTW.

Absolutely. The old terminal in DTW was an embarassment, but the new one is world class. Not many places out there that can operate four runways without ever having to taxi across an active runway. Of course that makes for some really long taxi ops.

LOL long taix ops I know you have been in the penalty box at JFK for more than 30 min..

oh how I love getting paid by the hour unless that is I am trying to make that last flight home...

Been out on mil for quite a while, so you kind of forget the really bad parts... You caused a flashback to the United slow-down back in 2000ish. Trying to make my commute behind a United 737 that was taxiing at about 2 mph...worked for them though.
