Why DAL's proposed ratio is inequitable

You make a fine point, but I don't want you to think things are all roses even on the Delta-only list. My current Delta projected system seniority in year 2020 when I turn 60 (when, by the way, I will have 30 years with Delta) is around number 1,800. You read that right- and that's a Delta-only number- nothing to do with the merger or NWA. 60 years old, 30 years with Delta, and around number 1,800. Chalk it up to getting hired at the wrong time, but it is what it is.
My point? Simply to say that many of us DAL types are feeling pretty vulnerable too.

Well, these latest developments are pretty neat. My biggest concern was that DALPA would use LOA 19 as a hammer and delay any joint contract until many NWA folks had been furloughed.
We started this latest process excruciatingly slow, and it looked like stalling was going to be the tactic. I don't know what caused the urgency from DAL management to work around the clock until an agreement was reached, but the bottom line is: we did reach it. I'm very proud of DALPA and NWALPA for getting this done.
Pretty strong rumors seem to indicate that Date of Hire is off the table, the ratio that figured in Delta's future aircraft options is also off the table, and a framework has us pretty close to agreement on an SLI. Could it be that we will actually agree on an SLI without arbitration? That would be absolutely historic. What an incredible start to the new Delta that would be.

Fortunately, for you guys, our union has a pretty good record of never actually using any leverage we might happen upon... But you'll understand, won't you, if I don't share in your enthusiasm for me sharing in your furloughs?

I agree, and that's the best reason not to rush into a JPWA and SLI until the slow season. Then we won't have to argue about whose furloughs were whose.

My take is without the JCBA and SLI, the company cannot or will not move the flying around. With these two in place, they can move the categories around from DCC. I wouldn't be suprised to find the 747s operating out of ATL ASAP. Of course, intergration has to wait for SOC, but could they concievably put the new categories out for bid, but keep you in your old category until SOC, possibly pay protected?
