NWA/DAL Joint Info

Finally we have something signed by both sides presenting us information together. Hopefully they keep it up so there is no question about where each side stands and that can keep the walls down between each of groups. Good Stuff :D

They will agree on the joint PWA. Even if there is less money in the kitty this time, it will be easy to do since we are easily on the same side for this one. The SLI is where we got hung up last time and it is where we will get hung up again. You and I both know this.

BTW where do you want to bid when this thing gets done? I am sure that it is not DC-9.

The SLI might be a hang up but it will quickly go to expedited arbitration. As far as my preference on aircraft, currently I am on the DC9 because i choose to be. I enjoy the DC9 and I figure that I have the rest of my career to fly glass and international so i am going to enjoy the DC9 while its here. I can hold the airbus but dont want to bid anything else right now. If the 9 is replaced by 737's i may bid that because i enjoy doing domestic stuff and have little interest in 8+ hour legs. We shall see, money may talk i am not sure yet. I guess will see if i get to keep my job first i suppose ;) it may be a compass E175 for all i know.

Be careful what you wish for, dreams can come true?

I'm not sure if you were furloughed in the last round circa 2001-2006, but I wouldn't kid about that. There are about 8,000 guys across all the majors who may agree to that.

Is there any word on when the Justice Department will give the green/red light for the deal?
Not sure if there is an exact date set in stone or not. It's the government so I'd expect a 6-8 week waiting period from when they make the decision.

I would assume as soon as they get the go ahead from th DOJ they will try for DCC asap. They want this done now, so if they can get it done now they will.

No such thing as "expedited" arbitration. It is a misnomer that is used to say "bring-it-on!".

Lets say both sides agreed to "expedited" arbitration, explain the difference between normal and expedited or even "next day" arbitration.

An arbiter must be agreed to by both parties and the individual chosen would have to be available on the days for the hearing. After the presentations, done by lawyers, the judge would have to go back and rule and possibly have additional information presented. No difference in processes.

Why on earth if your future career as a professional pilot is in the hands of some judge would it be beneficial to push them for an expedited decision?

LM said today that negotiations for SLI will begin and hopefully will be concluded amicably. However, no PID has been established, so arbitration is still down the rode and would disadvantage the NWA pilot group going forward if they decide to push the SLI to arbitration, at least in my opinion.

Without a SLI, the jpwa will not take effect.

Now if this is true, it is a real motivator to the NWA ALPA group to get this done. I guess that LOA 19 would take effect for the DAL guys until this is done. Interesting. It shifts things a little.

That is the hammer in LOA 19, to provide an incentive to keep moving forward and bring the two groups together sooner rather than later.

If the jpwa took effect w/o SLI, then what incentive would there be to a pilot group to merge the SL's if they thought it was to there advantage? Also, each contract has language concerning successorship that prohibits changing individual contracts without a merged list.

Look at LCC, they did the reverse, wanted a SLI then do the contract, well they are gridlocked because they have no list.
