Wow, is this a BS discussion or what? Spaceman Wilson is a twit but I'm shocked that you would get into this mud pit.

But, I have two good friends from my USAF days who didn't pass NWA's "personality" test (no not the MMPI, that came later after the interview) and are at Delta. One was really excited about working for us as he met his wife at Minot when he sat alert on the F-15 back in the day and wanted to take momma home. The other guy has a Distinguished Flying Cross from the first Gulf War and we were nuts for passing him over even before an interview. I wrote letters for both and they both called thanking me for my help, but...........

They are both '97 hires I think.

So, do I have to find one more to get even in this nonsense pi$$ing contest or can we just drop this BS.

I don't recall defending our management. Of course we stopped them... with a scope clause. Are you really surprised that any management team would try to eliminate domestic flying with RJ's? You know... like Comair etal??

We're not arrogant enough to think we as hourly employees can pressure anyone about buying airplanes. I just know our scope clause mandates that WE fly them.

I'm not surprised that you don't see our attorney's cross examinations as having refuted anything. You probably just read our attorney's data, and quotations as them just saying: "I disagree!!" The reality is that the Delta witnesses did a satisfactory job, and our attorneys did a better than average job at cross examination and refutation. In order to appreciate any of this, you must be able to detach yourself from your personal biases.

I hate sushi, so I couldn't tell you. I'm kind of a stickler for having my food cooked.

In addition to, as has been stated many times.

Yes we did lose DHL, and the division is currently losing money. As for the rest of your "questions" nobody knows the answer to them as they involve the future. I've heard nothing about reducing the cargo division.

By the way, "invective" means a vehement and violent denunciation. Do you really think my use of the word "nonsense" fits that definition? My you're a thin-skinned one. Oops, there I go with more invective.

Carl
Sorry for the big post but I don't know how to do the multiple quote thing.

From what I read in the transcripts, the business plan that Steenland argued to the BR judge was to phase out the 9 and replace it with Newco. You guys successfully limited the loss to 90 76 seat jets, hence Compass. So the plan was still to cut the 9 but the result was something less or am I mistaken?

If NW management budgeted for a 9 replacement to be flown by mainline why is it not in the documents? I would not expect our side to bring that up in direct but I don't remember your lawyer entering that in evidence during cross. Did I miss that? Is he waiting for their case to present that evidence? If so I will stand corrected.

As for the freighters, you are right, it is in the future. Only the PTB know what they will do. A sound economic analysis would however, indicate that their days are numbered. Let's hope those 787s come and absorb those losses.

Invective: noun 3. an insulting or abusive word or expression. Ok, maybe it's a little bit of a stretch to call it abusive, but you get my gist. I asked a question and you replied with and insult. I like a good argument when both sides present valid points. Fire away!

Agreed. I will stated again. I agree that there are people over there that I know that this has happened to. That is the reference to Spliffs post that I agree with. The rest is rubbish.
He needs to get a grip. I know that he is on here purely to get a rise out of people, but there needs to be a little personal accountability. If he feels that he does not owe that to anyone, he needs to go over to that other web board.
The discussions here are always more informative on many levels.

Numerous great places to eat (and drink ) in Narita, Osaka and Nagoa. The bad news is the yen has fallen to almost 1 for 1 (100 yen to a dollar) from 107 just a couple of months ago. The old guys talk about over 200 yen to the dollar.......ahhhhh the good old days.

Come on out, I'll give ya the Narita tour. "Jet Lag" is the current hang out. Oh, and I'm sure you'll be out at the Radisson soon. College dorm life at it's best .

Furlough mitigation was a good plan in case we needed it, but now we don't.

Carl,
Well as our equity share rapidly approaches zero hopefully less guys will stick around for it and more guys will retire as planned. I'm still trying to figure out if this is good or bad. On one hand more guys will retire. On the other hand my equity share will also be worth squat - Oh well such is life.

Oh and another thing - "don't sell yourself short - your quite a slouch." In other words words NW is a solid airline with a great history and when this is all said and done hopefully the new Delta/Northwest will continue the proud tradition (prior to BK) of both companies.

One more thing - yours truly was turned down by UAL - one of the best things that ever happened to me, but really who gives a crap. Any guys that got turned down by DAL and hired at NW or turned down by NW and hired at DAL are now part of the team - case closed.

Yeah, I went over there in 06 and it was 118 to a dollar.
Not looking forward to the next trip in early 09. It might get real expensive....

Back in the day (88-93) I think it was like 300 to 1? The dollar was 2-1 to the DM too. Those were the days.
