Looks like Greenville, Ms will get a lot more traffic pretty soon.

Is there any possibility we (New Delta) will be getting more 74's?? Here is a post from Flightinfo... A united pilot "retiring" a UAL low time 747-400 to Victorville... A quick repaint, and that would be a Delta 747...

UAL 747-400 Parked in Mojave Desert!
Forwarded email:

Goodbye B-747-400 #8196

On Thursday I had the sad duty of being first officer on a one-way flight from San Francisco International Airport to Victorville Airport in the Mojave Desert. The purpose of this flight was to retire a low-time perfectly good 747-400. I was called out for my last day of reserve for this dubious ferry flight...."

There is not much demand for 747-400's. There are lots of them available world wide and a bunch in storage. Many are now being converted to cargo. Boeing is still pushing the 747-800 passenger version but I don't think they have sold any.

I doubt it is coming to DAL..... I am currently in training for the 747-400 and the fleet captain came in a few weeks ago and spoke with our class. Basically he said that it is too costly to convert another airlines -400 over to our configuration. NWA looked at doing this in the late 90's but elected to not go down this path due to this.

Have you heard much about new city pairs while in training? I see a couple of our 747-400 land at LAX around 0930 during the week. I figured one of them was most likely coming from Narita, how about -2. Carl?

Tomcat

Any thoughts on the A330?

Yes...that arrival at about 0930 is from Narita. As far as other city pairs go, I hear the same rumors that guys say here. Sometimes I wonder if we are spreading each other's rumors.

We've got to have something to talk about. How are the loads from LAX to Narita, Asia in general?

Loads are very strong. But I have no idea about the yield.
