George

George, I hope you don't mind me stealing your quote from a different thread...I wanted to address this. Let's post up some facts so we can figure this out - because I would like to know, and I am sure you guys would too. I made a new thread so it is easy to find.

Can someone please post the age 65 retirements for NWA?

Here it is for Delta - and these numbers are EXACT as of 12/09/2008

These are age 65 retirements, gentlemen - the only sure thing.

2008 0
2009 0
2010 0
2011 0
2012 2
2013 58
2014 71
2015 87
2016 131
2017 157
2018 217

That is the end of ten years - a total of 723 Delta age 65 retirements.

For those who want to look farther out (And if you are a Northwest guy and didn't know this, the Delta retirements exceed the NWA retirements from years 11-20, so once we get beyond that mark, you guys will actually move up faster than you would have if you were stand-alone, just like Delta guys will move up quicker than they would have stand-alone for the first 10 years of our merger).

I'll keep going - since I have the numbers right here:

2019 266
2020 334
2021 477
2022 551
2023 526
2024 521
2025 455
2026 397
2027 296
2028 278
______20 Year Mark right here________
2029 261
2030 282
2031 240
2032 164
2033 147
2034 89
2035 51

That's 4101 for years 10-20.

Add that to the previous ten years, that is 4,824 for a 20 year total.

Retirement?

Not to dispute your numbers, but, it is no longer correct to use the word retirement when talking about any up coming job terminations. We used to have a retirement but the Dead Zoners (Delta term for those who lost around a million or more [' 86 hire...1.7 mil for me even after it had been slashed in letter 51 ] have no chance of retireing on what they have earned from Delta. Been to two ALPA R&I seminars and heard the same thing both times.

Everyone has a different situation and different set of numbers but for me, personally, with the claim sale, the note, PBGC, and saving 85% of my take home since 2004 there is still no chance of earning enough to get back the earned portion of the retirement that the company stole. And that was true even before the stock market crashed.

Yes, some Delta pilots will loose their jobs in the near years ahead but they better have another source of income other than Delta.

That said...Nothing we can do about it now. The best plan from here forward is to all join together, put our paddles in the water and row in the same direction. But don't forget. Every dime you spend from here forward is one you didn't save for the date you get terminated.

Surely one of you Delta pilots formerly known as NWA pilots :D has the pre-merger NWA retirement numbers for each year? Doesn't your ALPA website have a career predictor tool that shows retirements (age 65) for each year as well as your projected seniority?

Pack,

Sorry dude. I think I put my response on another thread. I don't know of anywhere on our ALPA site that has that info for us. We have a program that will give us our retirements that are projected for those that are senior to us, but nothing for the whole group. Maybe one of our new hires can access the EZopenboard service and run the numbers.

OK, thanks for looking anyway. I want to make a cool chart which I will post - and I also want to know exactly how many more retirements the NWA side has over the next 10 years vs. Delta.

I don't know how much access you can get at EZopenboard.com, but the guy already has the new arbitrated seniority numbers up and running and any NWA guy can now go on and see what their projected seniority # will be every year until retirement. (65)

Oh, it's free.

Hey, why not go on there and email the guy and ask him for his "numbers." His name is Steve.

I e-mailed him...I'll advise if he responds.

NWA age 65 retirements from ezopenboard...based upon my birthday month for my retirement (Jan) so the numbers should be very close to total retirements...Hope this helps.

Awesome - That is 1,015 NWA retirements over the next ten years (From 2009-2018) vs. Delta's 723...So the difference between the two carriers (over ten years) is only 292 numbers.

I was trying to figure out the pull out / plug in number the arbitrators chose.

kinda blows away the argument that there was a huge difference between the number of retirements. 274 comes pretty close to making up the difference......and you get that seniority right now.
