Can anything stop Delta & NorthWest now

Being the Justice Department said yes and they have integrated the pilots lists. Can anything stop the merge/buyout at all now?

No, in case you didn't know it's already a DONE deal. It can't be stopped because the transaction has already been completed.

What Merger??

J/K the comapies are ONE now. NWA is here now only until everything can be combined. Sad but true

capncrunch 01-11-2009 08:44 PM

Is there still a chance we can stop the Delta Western merger?

normajean21 01-11-2009 08:46 PM

more total control :)

I don't know, but I plan to file a complaint with the CAB!

DAL4EVER 01-12-2009 07:05 AM

Should I be upset that my displacement bid to the mightiest of the mighty 4 engine jets wasn't honored: CV880?

Ferd149 01-13-2009 01:07 PM

Misunderstood the thread title. I thought the OP was a SWA guy worried we are on our way to slap them back to Texas:D

Just kidding, but we are preparing the welcome to MSP party. The MSP 757 bid packet has Midway trips in it again.......haven't seen those since we ran ATA outta town:eek:

Ferd

acl65pilot 01-13-2009 06:38 PM

That is awesome. SWA knows that if it diverges from their business plan too much they get slapped.

As it should be. I'm glad we have a management group that doesn't find it acceptable to invite your competition to a backyard B-B-Que.

As Mr. Smithers once said, "Release the hounds!".

Stand by for the obligatory "why is everyone always picking on SWA??? We have made MORE $$...we have better hedges...we don't engage in predatory pricing...."

Just cause Southwest still provides a superior product at a cost effective price it doesn't give you guys a right to rag on them.
While other carriers are cutting "perks" Southwest still keeps them.

For example, no bag fees, and just last week they introduced a new line of inflight snacks, which includes 40/20 oz. Bottles of Red Dog Beer, Pork Rinds, Beek Jerky, and Complimentary Mini-Cans of Natti-Ice. :D

This is an amazing change from the Delta of the 1990's. Back then we lead the industry in running from competition.

Current management seems to "get it", and they have learned from the mistakes of past management.

Now if we could just convince them that RJs ruin the brand and are killing our competitiveness. Look at MSP. They aren't adding RJ flights, they are adding 75s. People would rather pay $50 more to fly on a 73 than a CRJ.

You mean Mr Burns.

Smithers is to Bastain as Mr Burns is to Richard Anderson.

Heyas Ferd,

Meh...that's nothing. Back in the day, Old School NWA would have flown 747s into DAL 24/7.

Works for me!!:D As a DFW commuter I could easily have Joemomma come get me at DAL. Where would we have to stop for the Wright Ammendment? Tulsa, OKC?:D

Heyas Ferd,

They'd probably figure out a way to just do a touch n'go somewhere along the line and call it good.

I just remember what they did to Reno. Ouchie. No one wanted to mess with NWA 'cause they knew that they'd get all "crazy eyes" and start flyin' whales into their backyard.

I say take 20 or so -9s and start flying them out of DAL into ancient SWA strongholds like AUS, San Antonio, HOU and other hot spots.

Sure AA tried it, but now you have free -9s running with cheap gas. Most have airstairs so all you need is a hardstand. Pull a JB and load from the front while folks get off in the back. I'd be fun to watch.

Nu

satchip 01-15-2009 12:27 PM

Take those 9s and fly them from AUS and SAT to JFK! Make my commute easier.

Opus 01-16-2009 08:47 AM

No one can get into Dallas Luv field as Swa has all the gates locked up. American and Continental have a few but the rest belong to Swa thus preventing anyone from coming in there and fully compete with them.

Swa in '98 wouldn't let us Nwa guys jumpseat when we were on strike and for many other reasons I'm not a big fan of them. So, I do hope Dal will go toe to toe with them, at least in Msp.

Looks like that is the plan. Our Feb Bid package has mainline service replacing some RJ service into Midway.

What about the old Legend terminal and gates? They are on the east side of the field, across the runway from the main terminal.
